Unicaja has expanded its technology ecosystem with Google Cloud to complement its strategic AI plan, alongside NVIDIA and Deloitte Spain, with the aim of accelerating the deployment of its conversational banking model, based on artificial intelligence and, in particular, generative AI capabilities. This initiative is part of the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan and continues the rollout, initiated in 2025, of its proprietary AI infrastructure, known as the “AI factory”.

By incorporating Google Cloud technology, Unicaja strengthens its hybrid approach, combining dedicated infrastructure with cloud capabilities. This model provides greater elasticity and scalability, enhances system resilience to demand peaks, and significantly reduces implementation times for new conversational capabilities. As a result, it accelerates time to market and enables a more agile transition from pilot phases to production environments, without compromising data control or compliance with the sector’s regulatory standards.

Within the framework of this collaboration, Unicaja operates NVIDIA AI Enterprise as a production‑ready solution available through the Google Cloud Marketplace and supported by NVIDIA AI infrastructure on Google Cloud. This approach allows the bank to run open models powered by NVIDIA NIM microservices, combined with commercial models, selecting in each case the most efficient option for each business need, while maintaining sovereignty and full control over its systems.

This combined model enables Unicaja to use NVIDIA AI Enterprise and NVIDIA AI infrastructure both through Google Cloud and its own AI infrastructure, providing flexibility in a highly regulated environment with stringent security and data protection requirements, and supporting the ethical, reliable and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across the organisation.

On this technological foundation, Unicaja has already brought several use cases into production across different areas of the bank. These include insurance and mortgage sales, software development support, customer complaint management, assistance with legal processes, and the automation of back‑office tasks.

These projects have delivered significant efficiency gains, with response time reductions ranging from 40% to 80%, while freeing up team capacity for higher value‑added tasks and improving both customer experience and internal productivity.

The integration of Google Cloud also enables Unicaja to proactively explore additional artificial intelligence capabilities offered by Google Cloud, while maintaining compatibility with its dedicated infrastructure and corporate AI strategy. The entire deployment is carried out under a hybrid, modular and scalable architecture that ensures compliance with European artificial intelligence regulations, as well as the highest standards of security, privacy and risk management.

Deloitte Spain will continue to play a key role in this transformation, contributing its capabilities in strategy, regulation, risk management, technology and integration, while NVIDIA will continue to provide the underlying computing and artificial intelligence technology required to scale the model.

“The expansion of this technology ecosystem represents another step forward in our transformation strategy,” said Isidro Rubiales, CEO of Unicaja, adding that “the integration of Google Cloud allows us to gain flexibility and speed, while maintaining control over our infrastructure and our customers’ data.” “In this way, we continue to move towards a conversational banking model that is efficient and people‑centred,” he stated.

“Unicaja’s approach to conversational banking highlights the value of a flexible hybrid architecture. Google Cloud is committed to providing the computing power and technological capabilities that enable financial institutions to take AI projects from pilot to production in an efficient and responsible manner,” said Isaac Hernandez, Country Manager Iberia at Google Cloud.
