On Wednesday, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Oviedo hosted the round table discussion ‘The Profile of the Accounting and Auditing Professional’, which brought together leading professionals from the sector to share their experiences with university students. The event, organised by the Department of Accounting, is linked to the SIAC Master’s Degree (Accounting Information Systems and Analysis) and was supported by Unicaja and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Spain.
The event was introduced by the Vice-Dean for Quality at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Cristina Robles; the Coordinator of the SIAC Master’s programme, Jesús García; and, representing Unicaja, the area manager for the Asturias Central region, Ana Fonseca, who highlighted the organisation’s commitment to education and training, as well as its strong support for the University of Oviedo in this and other programmes, such as the awards ceremony for the best academic records.
The round table was attended by Arturo Díaz, president of the Ninth Regional Group of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Spain; Conrado Cea, partner in charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Asturias and Cantabria; Eva Díaz, auditor at the Audit Office of the Principado de Asturias; and Lorena Iglesias, Associate Partner at KPMG Auditors.
During the meeting, they shared their professional experiences, conveying to the students in attendance the importance of training in accounting and auditing, the high employability of these fields, and the future opportunities available in these areas.
In this regard, one of the programme’s objectives is to raise awareness of the career prospects offered by the University of Oviedo’s SIAC Master’s degree, a professionally oriented programme accredited by the Institute of Accounting and Auditing (ICAC), which is taught at the University of Oviedo’s Faculty of Economics and Business, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
