Santander hosts this weekend a new edition of the Festival de Ultrafondo 100/50 km and 24 Hours of Cantabria-City of Santander, an event that will bring together Spain’s ultra-distance running community with the support of Unicaja.
Recognised and certified by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), the competition will feature 3, 6, 12 and 24-hour races, alongside the 50 km and 100 km events, allowing athletes to take on the challenge according to their speciality and objectives. All results achieved will carry official status and be included in the corresponding rankings.
The 2026 edition will also feature a particularly strong field, with athletes arriving in Santander boasting benchmark performances and extensive experience in ultra-distance events.
Combining tradition, competitive spirit and endurance, the event will bring together runners from Spain and abroad. It is organised by CDB Atletismo Ultrafondo Cantabria and supported by Santander City Council and the Government of Cantabria. In addition to Unicaja, sponsors include Ascensores IMEM and Grupo Barymont.
Unicaja’s support for this event forms part of its commitment to promoting sport and physical activity, as well as the values they represent, including teamwork, dedication and healthy lifestyles.
The initiative also reflects the bank’s commitment to contributing to the economic and social development of the regions in which it operates. Cantabria holds a special place among them as one of Unicaja’s historic territories of origin.
