Unicaja has announced the early pension payment schedule for 2026, a measure that reinforces its commitment to financial stability and comprehensive support for its senior customers. This group represents an essential part of the customer base, with 45% having their pension paid directly into the bank.
With the advance payment, customers can access their money before the end of the month, at no additional cost and with immediate deposit into their account, which facilitates expense planning. In 2026, the advance payment dates are: 22 January, 20 February, 23 March, 22 April, 22 May, 22 June, 23 July, 21 August, 22 September, 22 October, 23 November and 23 December.
This initiative is in addition to the exclusive benefits that Unicaja offers for setting up direct deposit of pensions with the bank. Customers who do not yet have direct deposit can receive up to €450 if the monthly amount is equal to or greater than €1,200, and €350 if it exceeds €600, provided that Bizum is activated in the app during the minimum contract period.
The latter requirement does not apply to those over 75 years of age, who are also not required to have a card in the Zero Plan (a programme that exempts them from the most common fees if they meet a series of requirements), which further simplifies the process.
On the other hand, to deal with unforeseen events, Unicaja offers senior customers the Pension Advance Loan, which allows them to obtain up to three monthly payments to be repaid within a maximum period of 12 months. It also offers insurance tailored to the needs of older people, including rapid diagnosis, annual check-ups and home care services, without medical questionnaires.
The bank's commitment to this group is also reflected in its financial activity. Thus, 60% of these customers with a direct deposit pension use a debit or credit card, 10% use Bizum, 20% have insurance policies and 10% have investment funds or discretionary portfolio management.
Digital and in-person support
Aware of the importance of personalised attention, Unicaja is strengthening its digital and in-person support. Currently, almost 40% of senior customers use Digital Banking.
In addition, in 2025, a total of 11,255 senior citizens participated in one of the training sessions offered as part of the Edufinet project, organized with Fundación Unicaja, to promote financial education and digital inclusion. Complementing the service provided in branches, the bank has a dedicated telephone line for people over 65, which is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
