The Ponferrada Campus of the University of León today presented the Caser-Unicaja Mentoring Awards, which recognize the best Bachelor's and Master's Degree Final Projects. This event was part of the Opening of the Academic Year 2024-2025, which was attended by the rector, Nuria González Álvarez; the general secretary, María Pilar Gutiérrez Santiago; and the vice-rector of the Ponferrada Campus, Pilar Marqués Sánchez. Unicaja was represented by Marga Serna, regional manager of Castilla y León - North; and on behalf of Caser, Federico Marqués Sánchez, executive director of Unicaja's account with the insurer.

A total of six students have been awarded: Alicia Enríquez Martínez, from Nursing; Esther Oreja Santos, from Physiotherapy; Jesús Valle Blanco, from Podiatry; Dana Mínguez Bermejo, from Forestry and Natural Environment Engineering; José Javier Carrera Árias from Geomatics and Topography Engineering; and Alexey Valero Jorge, for his Master's work in Geoinformatics for the management of natural resources. Each prize is endowed with 450 euros.

Last year, Caser, Unicaja's insurance marketing partner, signed an agreement with the University of León to sponsor the prizes for the best Bachelor’s and Master's Degree final projects at the University’s Ponferrada Campus, where more than 700 undergraduate students are studying.

The relationship between Unicaja and the University of León goes back 47 years. Both maintain a financial collaboration agreement, which benefits both the academic institution itself and its staff and enrolled students.

This agreement with Unicaja gives the University of León access to special Treasury current accounts, management and income current accounts, as well as to the bank's wide range of services through its network of branches, ATMs, digital banking, mobile phone applications, Bizum and card payments through smartphones, among other services. Unicaja also offers its wide range of products and services for teaching, research, administration and services staff, as well as for the more than 12,000 students enrolled at the University of León.
