Club Voleibol Unicaja Costa de Almería became last Saturday the champion of the Superliga Masculina, winning its twelfth league in its history. Thus, it remains as the team with the highest number of titles in this competition, and it does so on the 25th anniversary of its first Superliga.

Unicaja Almeria continues its trajectory as one of the most successful Andalusian clubs of all times, with 30 national titles, which keep it in the volleyball elite at European level. This victory confirms the potential of the technical and sporting staff of this team, sponsored by Unicaja Banco for 35 years.

Unicaja Almeria, coached by Manuel Berenguel, won the third game of the final this Saturday, beating Melilla Sport Capital 3-1. The white and green team thus brilliantly concludes a season with which they continue to write their history in golden letters.

The origin of Club Voleibol Unicaja Costa del Sol lies in 'Estudiantes', a team founded in 1986 by the late Moisés Ruiz and the seed of the former Cajalmería. In 1991, with the merger of the financial institution, the volleyball team took its current name and, since then, the Club, currently chaired by Antonio Rodríguez, has managed to establish itself as the most successful Andalusian volleyball team of all time.

Volleyball elite

In this regard, it should be noted that Unicaja Costa de Almeria has won, since the 1994-1995 season, a relevant list of 30 national titles, including 12 Superliga titles, 11 Copa del Rey and 7 Spanish Supercopas.

These are records that very few clubs can boast, in addition to the fact that the Almeria volleyball team has also participated in four Final Four European competitions, and it was also European runner-up in the 1997-1998 season. These milestones have undoubtedly consolidated its position among the elite of European volleyball.
