Unicaja Banco shows one more year its support to the olive oil sector in Jaen with its participation in Expoliva, the International Fair of Olive Oil and Allied Industries, consolidated as the world’s most important trade fair in this sector.

Expoliva 2021, which is celebrating its 21st edition, has been inaugurated today Wednesday at an event chaired by H.M King Felipe VI, held at the Recinto Provincial de Ferias y Congresos in Jaen. The fair will be open until Saturday 25 September.

The bank participates again with its own stand at the fair, where it will provide the attendees with information on its broad, traditional and specialized range of financial products and services for the olive grove sector in particular, and for the agricultural sector in general. Visitors will get information and advice on the different funding facilities to modernize their agricultural holdings, to facilitate generational change, to acquire vehicles or machinery or to get liquidity to face day-to-day payments.

Unicaja Banco also offers a line of pre-approved loans for intensive crops and loans for woody crops, with a long interest-only period (up to three years), for new crops or the transformation of traditional olive grove into more intensive, efficient and sustainable holdings.

In addition to pension plans, this offering also includes a broad range of agricultural insurance, financed at a 0% interest rate, such as the insurance for olive farms, with adapted cover, tailored financing, discounts and rebates.

The participation of Unicaja Banco in Expoliva, where it has collaborated since its first edition, falls within the support that the bank gives to the business fabric and to the economic development of the province of Jaen, as well as to the agricultural sector and especially to one of the main sectors of agricultural production in Andalusia: olive oil and allied industries.

Unicaja Banco and the agricultural sector

Unicaja Banco is the benchmark financial institution in Andalusia. This fact, together with its commitment to Jaen in general and to the olive grove sector in particular, makes Unicaja Banco to be an active participant and collaborator in all the initiatives to improve, promote, research and increase the trading and consumption of olive oil.

In this context, the bank has published works and studies on agriculture and has developed other activities in this area, either on its own or in collaboration with agricultural organizations, companies or other institutions. In this regard, it is worth to mention the organization of Enclave Agrario, a series of talks given by business owners of the sector, held throughout Spain to analyze the trends and new business strategies

It is also important to mention the participation of Unicaja Banco in the campaign of subsidies of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), providing customers with advice and personalized management of their application dossiers, as well as with possibility of receiving the payments in advance, with loans under favourable terms. For that purposed, it has set a credit line for an amount of 325 million euros.

About Expoliva

Expoliva was first held in 1983, and it has become the world’s first monographic fair on olive grove. It has grown in number of participating professionals, visitors and institutions to become an international reference for all the sector of olive oil. In its previous edition, organized in 2019, Expoliva gathered more than 58,000 visitors and 382 exhibitors.

Additionally, the fair also hosts other activities such as the Technical and Scientific Symposium, organized by Fundación del Olivar and including five forums: Olive Oil Industry, Technology and Quality; Olive Grove and Environment; Social and Economic Forum; Food, Health and Olive Oil; and Culture Forum, and the VIII International Extra Virgin Expoliva Fair, which will host a selection of the best extra virgin olive oils of the world.
