The “101 Kilometres of La Legión in 24 Hours” race once again brought together more than 9,000 participants this past weekend. The event, one of the most renowned ultradistance races on the national calendar, once again counted on the support of Unicaja.
Starting and finishing in Ronda, participants travelled through the municipalities of Arriate; Setenil de las Bodegas; Alcalá del Valle; Montejaque; and Benaoján, along a route that could be completed on foot, running or cycling, depending on the chosen category.
As is customary, a children’s race was also held, with a further 1,200 participants. This year, as a new development, it was also staged in other towns along the race route, in addition to Ronda.
The “101 Kilometres of La Legión” has been held annually since 1995, except in those years when this unit has been required to take part in international missions, such as in 2001, 2004, 2010 and 2023.
Unicaja's commitment to sport
For Unicaja, sport is a driver of social development, well-being and community cohesion, combined with a strong commitment to sustainability and improving quality of life. Indeed, engaging in sport helps foster values such as effort, perseverance and teamwork.
In this context, the bank promotes and sponsors a wide range of sporting activities as part of its strategy to support society and the regions in which it operates—particularly Ronda and its surrounding area, with which it has strong long-standing ties.
