Unicaja and Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos (UPA) Jaén have signed a new financial collaboration agreement with the aim of facilitating access to banking products and services on preferential terms for farmers and livestock breeders in the province of Jaén. Indeed, through this partnership, both organisations are consolidating their collaboration to support the rural productive sector and contribute to the strengthening of one of Andalusia’s strategic sectors.
The agreement, signed by Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela Pérez, and the general secretary of UPA Jaén, Jesús Cózar Pérez, establishes a framework for cooperation aimed at boosting the economic development of the agricultural and livestock sector, improving its liquidity and promoting the modernisation of farms.
Under this agreement, Unicaja makes available to both the organisation and its 3,000 members across the province a comprehensive, tailored service, including a wide range of financial and non-financial products adapted to the needs of the primary sector.
These include working capital facilities, harvest advances, loans for agricultural investments, as well as specific solutions for advance payments of aid under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
Furthermore, UPA Jaén members will have access to financial instruments designed to improve farms, purchase machinery, modernise irrigation systems or buy rural properties, as well as other financing options such as ICO lines, guarantees or products linked to Next Generation European funds.
The agreement also includes benefits relating to day-to-day banking products, such as fee-free accounts, digital banking services, payment methods, agricultural and personal insurance, as well as tools for managing collections and payments. All of this is designed to optimise the business operations of farmers and livestock breeders.
In addition, Unicaja will offer special terms for direct debits of instalments and bills, as well as incentives and promotions aimed at self-employed workers in the sector, thereby helping to improve their financial capacity.
This agreement reinforces both institutions’ commitment to sustainable development, innovation and competitiveness in the agricultural sector, which is key to the economy of the province of Jaén and which Unicaja places at the heart of its strategy.
Improving liquidity and tackling investments
Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela, noted that “with this agreement we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting the agricultural sector, which is key to the economy of Jaén”, whilst emphasising that “our aim is to offer tailored financial solutions that help farmers and livestock breeders improve their liquidity, manage their investments and become more competitive”.
In this regard, Cayuela emphasised that “this agreement makes available to UPA Jaén members a comprehensive range of products and services that address both their day-to-day needs and their projects, from working capital to the modernisation of their farms”.
For his part, the general secretary of UPA Jaén, Jesús Cózar Pérez, stated that “the aim of our organisation is to offer the best and most professional services to our farmers and livestock breeders, which is why agreements such as the one we have signed with Unicaja are important”.
“We advise, assist and defend the interests of small and medium-sized farmers, and in this work, dialogue plays a fundamental role – not only with the authorities, but also with other organisations, savings banks and banks – so that we can work together to defend family-run agriculture and livestock farming, which makes up the majority of our region. We are reinforcing this commitment with this agreement with Unicaja,” declared Cózar.
UPA Jaén is an organisation focused on defending the interests of professional farmers and livestock breeders, currently with 3,000 members in the province, and bringing together the majority of the agricultural sector: family farms.
