The Edufinet Project, a financial education programme promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, will once again take part in Global Money Week (GMW), an international initiative promoted by the OECD/INFE, which will be held from 16 to 22 March 2026, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of promoting financial education among children and young people.
Under the slogan of this fourteenth edition, ‘Talk about money, it’s good manners’, Global Money Week encourages the promotion, from an early age, of an open and natural dialogue about personal finances, money management, saving, fraud prevention and planning, as a key tool for developing responsible financial habits and facilitating informed decision-making throughout life.
In line with this theme, Edufinet has designed a comprehensive programme of educational activities to run throughout the week, including forty financial education sessions, as well as two training talks, both in-person and online, which are expected to reach over 1,000 participants.
The growing complexity of the financial lives of children and young people –ranging from managing spending and saving to fraud prevention and understanding basic financial concepts– means that, in many cases, talking about money can be tricky. Aware of this reality, Global Money Week is focusing this year on encouraging young people, families, teachers and organisations to integrate conversations about personal finance into everyday life, fostering trust and shared learning.
A week of educational activities
Edufinet’s programme will begin next Monday, 16 March, with an online session aimed at young people aged 14 to 18, which can be streamed via the YouTube channel and the website of this financial education programme.
Entitled ‘Let’s talk about money’, the session will take a practical and educational approach to addressing issues such as the importance of saving, financial planning and managing the family budget, using real-life examples and useful tips for everyday life.
During this activity, participants will also learn to control their spending using a technology app developed specifically by the Edufinet Project, which makes it easier to understand and monitor good spending habits.
In addition, an in-person workshop will be held on Friday 20 March at the Edufinet Centre in Málaga, also under the title ‘Let’s Talk About Money’, which will encourage participation and interaction with attendees through a more engaging approach.
In addition, Edufinet plans to hold around forty financial education sessions in schools across various Spanish towns and cities, both in person and online, which are expected to reach over 700 pupils in primary, compulsory secondary and baccalaureate education.
Furthermore, throughout the week, educational content will be shared on its social media profiles via specific posts and short videos, which will also be featured on its website. Similarly, the weekly activity on the Edufinet blog (EdufiBlog) will be aligned with the central theme of this year’s GMW.
