Unicaja has renewed its collaboration with Asaja Jaén to provide farmers and livestock breeders in the province with advance payments of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) aid, a vital tool for ensuring the economic stability of their farms.
Under this agreement, farmers and livestock breeders who are members of Asaja Jaén and who submit their single CAP application through Unicaja will be able to access, on favourable terms, an advance on the aid, allowing them to cover the costs of their daily activities with greater peace of mind.
The deadline for submitting the single application remains open until 30 April, whilst the advance can be arranged until 31 October.
The agreement was signed by Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela, and by the president of Asaja Jaén, Nicolás Vico.
For this financial year, Unicaja has set up a significant pre-approved funding facility, worth €1,000 million, aimed at the agricultural and livestock sectors, including CAP advances and support for intensive crops, which will help meet the liquidity needs of thousands of professionals.
Strategic support
Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela, emphasised that “our commitment to the Jaén agricultural sector is firm and long-standing. We work alongside organisations such as Asaja Jaén to offer flexible, accessible solutions tailored to the reality of each farm. The agricultural sector is strategic for the province and we want to continue being its financial partner”.
Cayuela also noted that, in general, this type of collaboration, through which Unicaja places these professionals at the heart of its strategy, “helps not only to streamline administrative procedures but also to strengthen institutional and financial support for a sector facing challenges such as climate uncertainty and the need for generational renewal”.
Finally, he highlighted Unicaja’s branch network in Jaén and its specialisation in the agricultural sector, as well as the bank’s digital channels, which enable personalised support both in processing applications and in financing linked to the CAP.
The president of Asaja Jaén, Nicolás Vico, highlighted, for his part, the importance of this collaboration, which “has been in place for years and will benefit our more than 6,000 members, for whom we work”.
Unicaja’s track record in the agricultural and food industry is underpinned by a comprehensive service model offering financial, insurance and advisory solutions, specifically designed to address the sector’s unique characteristics.
This collaboration also takes the form of agreements with public authorities and participation in specialist events in Jaén, such as Expoliva, the International Olive Oil and Related Industries Fair.
Asaja Jaén, with over three decades of history, is the largest professional agricultural organisation in Jaén and one of the largest and most established on the national scene. It has a network of over 60 professionals across the province and around 40 offices or service points.
