Albacete Town Hall and Unicaja will collaborate on the launch of a new Christmas video mapping that will be projected onto the Puerta de Hierros, with five daily screenings on 2, 3 and 4 January, allowing thousands of people to attend. Entitled “Feliz (y Loca) Navidad!” (Merry -and Crazy- Christmas!), the proposal was presented today by the Councillor for Culture, Elena Serrallé, and for the second consecutive year will transform this iconic monument into a grand stage of light, fantasy and visual storytelling for all audiences.
Before the press conference began, the Mayor, Manuel Serrano, welcomed the Regional Manager of Unicaja in Castilla La Mancha, Almudena Noheda, who also took part in the presentation. During the meeting, they were able to share their impressions of the Christmas programme and the role played by the collaborating institutions in promoting cultural activities in the city. This meeting highlighted the good institutional rapport and the common commitment to strengthening initiatives that add social value and contribute to the dynamism of Albacete during this time of year. The meeting was also attended by the Area Manager of Unicaja in Albacete, Emilio Valenciano.
During the press conference, the councillor emphasised that "this audiovisual show reflects the Town Hall's commitment to accessible and innovative culture", adding that "we want our streets and symbolic spaces to become meeting points, places where families can share special moments and stages that speak of who we are as a city". She also added that "Albacete is committed to a Christmas that brings life to the streets, revitalises the city centre and offers memorable experiences".
Serrallé highlighted the work of Máquina Lumínica, the company responsible for the design and execution of the show, thanking them for "their professionalism, creativity and ability to turn a historic façade into a visual universe that thrills the public." She also extended her gratitude to the financial institution Unicaja for its indispensable collaboration, to the team at the Department of Culture, as well as to the municipal services involved, emphasising that "projects of this magnitude require coordination, technical expertise and a shared vision of the cultural model of the city we are building."
The municipal representative concluded by pointing out that "this proposal is yet another example of the cultural boost we want to give to our city; a city that celebrates Christmas with pride, that is committed to innovation and that understands culture as a driving force that creates opportunities, energises the environment and strengthens our collective identity".
For her part, the regional manager of Unicaja in Castilla-La Mancha, Almudena Noheda, stressed that "this support reflects Unicaja's commitment to Albacete and Castilla-La Mancha, to which we have deep roots, as it is one of the areas where our organisation originated. We therefore want to strengthen this bond with our society and collaborate on projects such as this one, which add value and contribute to the development of our territories."
Videomapping ‘¡Feliz (y Loca) Navidad!’
The show, entitled 'Merry (and Crazy) Christmas!', presents a story full of humour, magic and Christmas references starring the Three Wise Men and a tireless Grinch, whose costume changes and mischief mark the visual evolution. It will be screened on 2, 3 and 4 January 2026 at the Puerta de Hierros, with five daily screenings scheduled at 7 p.m., 7.30 p.m., 8 p.m., 8.30 p.m. and 9 p.m., allowing numerous families and visitors to enjoy it comfortably.
The Puerta de Hierros will be transformed into a succession of fantastic scenes: a Christmas house turned into a toy shop, a haunted façade in the style of Harry Potter's costume, a cuckoo house with a giant clock, a pink jelly cake shop and even a glass palace filled with gifts, before a finale of dynamic geometries, enveloping lights and a luminous Happy Holidays greeting that will close each show. All this through an audiovisual intervention that combines animation, artistic design, lighting effects and a narrative rhythm designed to surprise both children and adults.
