The Edufinet Project, a financial education programme promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, was honoured at the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards 2024-2025 gala, held today, Wednesday, in Madrid, with two new awards recognising its work in promoting and advancing financial education and inclusion in different categories.

Specifically, Edufinet was awarded second prize in the Financial Education category, in the Children and/or Young People (0 to 25 years old) section, thanks to its 'Financial Education Hackathon' initiative. This is an activity that the project launched last October, in collaboration with Funcas Educa, as part of Financial Education Day, promoted by the Financial Education Plan (PEF), and whose theme was precisely in line with the slogan of this edition, 'Inform yourself, Plan and Decide'.

Around 130 baccalaureate students from different educational centres in the provinces of Almería, Córdoba, Granada and Huelva took part in this seven-hour hackathon, where, grouped into teams, they had to present a solution to a challenge posed in the field of financial education, with the support of their teachers. In this way, Edufinet aims to promote financial education for young people in a practical, fun and enjoyable way, in an atmosphere of participation and collaboration, with the aim of stimulating financial knowledge and skills, practical learning, as well as the generation of ideas, creativity, innovation and cooperation. All this is achieved through the application of active methodologies and cross-cutting skills.

It also won second prize in the Social Work Sport category for its series of conferences on 'Financial education and sport', which it runs through its EdufiSport programme, where it has been promoting specific financial education initiatives aimed at the world of sport since 2020.

As part of this series, Edufinet offers monthly conferences in a format that encourages audience participation, with a final question and answer session followed by a discussion. These lectures aim to bring financial culture closer to the world of sport, from both a professional and academic perspective, with an educational and informative nature, in order to highlight the practical usefulness of training in economics for the management of the careers of athletes and sports organisations.

Recognition for its educational work

This new edition of the CECA awards aims to highlight once again the importance of financial education and culture as a key pillar for the stability and economic and financial development of society as a whole.

The awarding of these prizes to the Edufinet Project, both in the Financial Education and Social Work categories, once again highlights the initiatives it has developed during this time, with the aim of bringing the keys to the financial world closer to all sectors of society and, therefore, contributing to sound decision-making in the field of economics and finance. The awards ceremony, which took place on Wednesday at the Real Casino de Madrid, was attended by María del Mar Molina, a member of the Edufinet financial education programme team, representing Edufinet.

With two decades of experience behind it, Edufinet is one of Spain's pioneering financial education programmes and currently collaborates with ten institutions and business organisations, as well as 17 universities. It also has two physical headquarters in Malaga and Salamanca.

Its website (www.edufinet.com) offers a wide variety of content, with practical and educational information on the financial world, through different sections (Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics). Since its launch in 2005, it has carried out a wide range of practical training activities, including various seminars, workshops, courses and conferences, both in person and online, for citizens of all ages, which have benefited more than 300,000 people to date.

In addition to publishing several books and posts on its blog, EdufiBlog, the programme also carries out daily training activities through its social media profiles (YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok) and the iVoox and Spotify podcast platforms.

Edufinet has also been recognised with several awards over the years. These include the 2024 Finance for All Award, granted by the Financial Education Plan, in the category of best financial education initiative; three awards at the 2023-2024 CECA Awards for Social Work and Financial Education; and recognition as a finalist in the 2024 Vuela Awards.
