The Edufinet Project, a financial education programme promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, has once again staged the play 'Las cosas fáciles' in Malaga, with the Blanca Marsillach Theatre Company, with the aim of promoting the financial and digital inclusion of senior citizens.

Specifically, nearly 1,000 people from different municipalities in Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Málaga and Seville have benefited from this activity, which is sponsored by Funcas Educa and was hosted on 11 and 12 December at the Hall Fundación Unicaja María Cristina in Málaga.

This is the third consecutive year that Edufinet and the theatre company have collaborated on this play, which is aimed at this demographic and has been well received by audiences in its two previous editions thanks to its dynamic and entertaining nature and the interesting topics it addresses.

Two performances were played each day, both in the morning (at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.), during which seniors were able to learn the keys to financial education in personal and digital finance in an entertaining and informal way through theatrical performances that included interaction with the audience. This gave them access to essential financial knowledge for their daily lives, as well as skills and competencies that promote greater autonomy in managing their finances and cybersecurity, thereby helping to reduce the digital divide that often affects this group.

'Las cosas fáciles'

'Las cosas fáciles' is a comedy written and directed by Alberto Velasco and starring actresses Sara Ralla and Cristina Izquierdo, which premiered in Madrid in October 2023. With an educational purpose, this stage production focuses on the situation of older people when faced with the new financial world and the need to provide them with the necessary tools and means to promote active ageing and greater independence both in managing their personal finances and in accessing the digital environment.

In short, the aim is to highlight the relationship between this segment of the population and technology and finance, as well as to promote their education, in order to ensure sound financial decision-making and greater awareness of the risks involved in cybersecurity, especially when using digital banking.

This new collaboration reinforces the long-standing relationship between Edufinet and Blanca Marsillach's company, which has led both parties to work together on different projects to promote financial education and inclusion for various groups and age segments. In 2023 and 2024, they performed 'Las cosas fáciles', aimed at the elderly, and, previously, several stage productions aimed at young people. In addition, at the end of November this year, they staged the play 'Hacerse mayor', which has benefited more than 1,200 secondary school and baccalaureate students.

Support for financial inclusion

In its 20 years of existence, the Edufinet Project has been characterised as one of the pioneering and leading financial education and inclusion programmes in Spain, as a result of its commitment to society and the implementation of its sustainability policy. The result of this ongoing work is its extensive collaboration network, which includes ten business organisations and 17 universities.

During this time, it has worked to contribute to the financial inclusion of society, with a special focus on young people and the elderly, which has consolidated its position as one of the most active agents in this field today.

Since its launch in 2005, it has carried out a wide variety of practical training activities, including the development of various seminars, workshops, courses and conferences, both in person and online, for citizens of all ages, which have benefited more than 300,000 people to date. Edufinet has two physical locations in Malaga and Salamanca.

Its website (www.edufinet.com) offers a window onto the world of economics and finance, where users can access useful and educational information on these and other related subjects through various sections: Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics.  These web portals have received more than 11 million visits, with access from some 180 countries and nearly 20 million page views.

In addition to publishing several books and posts on its blog, EdufiBlog, the programme also carries out daily educational work through its social media profiles (YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok) and the iVoox and Spotify podcast platforms.

Edufinet has also been recognised with several awards over the years. These include two awards at the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards 2024-2025; the Finance for All Award 2024, granted by the Financial Education Plan, in the category of best financial education initiative; and recognition as a finalist in the Vuela Awards 2024.
