Unicaja and the University of León (ULE) have renewed the financial collaboration agreement with which they give continuity to the relationship that both institutions have maintained for almost 50 years, and that allows to benefit not only the academic institution itself, but also the nearly 2,000 people who make up its staff and the more than 12,000 students enrolled.
The signing of this agreement was attended by the rector and the manager of the ULE, Nuria González and Luis Javier Mediero, respectively, and, on behalf of Unicaja, by the regional manager of Business Banking Center and Expansion, Carlos Martín-Forero; the manager of Institutional Business of Castilla y León, Cristina Sánchez, and the area manager of León Centro, José María García.
This agreement, which is now being renewed, will benefit both the academic institution itself, to undertake projects that facilitate the development of its activities, and its staff and enrolled students.
Thus, it will mean access for the University of León to special Treasury, management and income current accounts, as well as to the wide range of services offered by the bank through its network of branches, ATMs, digital banking, cell phone applications, Bizum payments or non-financial solutions through its digital platforms 'beneficiaT' and 'solucionaT', available on the commercial website.
Unicaja also offers its extensive catalog of products and services for the nearly 2,000 people who are part of the teaching, research and administration and services staff, as well as for the more than 12,000 students enrolled at the ULE.
The regional manager of Business Banking Center and Expansion of Unicaja has pointed out that "our historical commitment to the ULE translates into a commitment to the highest quality training, as well as in favor of the dynamism of this institution as a cultural, economic and social agent of the region, which is an investment in the future for the development of León and its province".
For her part, the rector of the University of León highlighted the "relationship of trust and joint work" with Unicaja, recalling that "it has accompanied the growth of our institution from its beginnings and that it is the entity with which we maintain most of its financial operations".
Commitment to higher education and young people
In short, this agreement makes it easier for the entire university community to carry out transactions and access financial services quickly and easily.
For Unicaja, support for education, employability and entrepreneurship is one of the cornerstones of its sustainability policy, included in the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan. This translates into a close commitment with universities, and especially with those of its regions of action, among which the ULE stands out.
In this line, Unicaja has recently reinforced its commitment to the youth segment, with the relaunch of its Youth Debit Card, a product with no fees in Spain or abroad, and within the framework of a comprehensive value proposition of services (financial and non-financial) called 'This is Uni'. This initiative is designed to accompany young people between the ages of 18 and 27, in a simple, accessible way, adapted to their needs, in the management of their financial life, from their training to the start of their personal and professional projects.
It also makes available to this segment the Préstamo Estudios (Study Loan), with which it facilitates the payment of access to a wide variety of training systems (from undergraduate and postgraduate university studies to Vocational Training, including special education, both in public and private centers or business schools). In addition, through an agreement with the Junta de Castilla y León, the bank has joined the program for granting guarantees to facilitate young people's access to their first home in the form of home ownership.
