The International Film Week of Valladolid (Seminci), whose 70th edition begins this Friday, has lived today the presentation of the carpet that will parade in the coming days the guests at the opening and closing galas, as well as visitors and Valladolid citizens. The carpet features the corporate blue color of Unicaja, as a sponsor.

The event of laying the carpet was attended by the mayor of the city, Jesús Julio Carnero; the Councillor for Tourism, Events and City Brand, Blanca Jiménez; the director of the festival, José Luis Cienfuegos, and, on behalf of Unicaja, the regional manager of Castilla y León, Manuel Rubio, and María José Rivera, of Image, Sponsorships and Stakeholders.

For more than two decades, the bank has been a sponsor of the Seminci, one of the most prestigious film festivals in Spain. This commitment demonstrates the close ties that the financial institution has with Valladolid and, in general, with Castilla y León.

Unicaja’s commitment

It also reflects Unicaja's constant commitment to the promotion of culture through the promotion of initiatives of different kinds. This support, within the framework of its sustainability policy, strengthens the social environment and contributes to the economic development of the areas in which it operates.

The most visible symbol of this close relationship is that the carpet on which, from this Friday until 1 November, actors, directors and other guests will parade at the opening and closing galas of the Festival at the Teatro Calderón will be blue, one of the corporate colors of the financial institution.

The carpet will also be visible in the cinemas showing the films participating in the Seminci, as well as on Santiago Street (from Plaza de Zorrilla to Plaza Mayor), the main pedestrian artery in the center of the city.

Extensive programme

This year's Seminci's programme will be an X-ray of global conflicts from a humanist perspective, including contemporary geopolitical tensions, the dilemmas of adolescence and overcoming family traumas. With 225 films (137 of them premieres: 104 in Spain, 29 world premieres, 3 European premieres and 1 international premiere), the programme includes proposals for all audiences, as well as serving as a showcase for film production and future talents from Castilla y León.

Likewise, a total of 24 feature films will compete for the Golden Spike in the Official Selection, which adds up to 29 titles with the incorporation of Hamnet out of competition.

In short, talent and diversity through different proposals, with which during these days the dialogue between art and society is kept especially alive, and to which, with its collaboration, Unicaja joins, aware that culture is an essential driver of development and social cohesion.
