On the occasion of the Financial Education Day, this Monday, 6 October, the Edufinet Project of financial education, promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, has given today in its Edufinet Center of Financial Education in Salamanca a workshop aimed at students of Secondary Education.

Specifically, about 25 students of 4th of secondary education, from the Montessori School of Salamanca, have benefited from this activity, lasting an hour and a half and whose focus was aligned with the motto of this edition of the Financial Education Day, which is presented under the title 'Get informed, Plan and Decide'. The aim is to highlight the advantages of good financial planning, based on sufficient training and information, in order to make the best economic decisions at each stage of life, and thus contribute to building a stable and secure future.

During this financial education workshop, students have learned basic concepts and notions about the world of finance, which have enabled them to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their own economy in the future. Among other aspects, they have addressed issues such as savings, financial decision-making, economic and financial indicators, money, means of payment, loans, notions about fixed income, variable income, prevention and detection of online risks (cybersecurity) or sustainability.

This workshop was complemented by a guided visit to the Edufinet Center facilities in Salamanca, during which the students had the opportunity to enjoy the wide range of interactive activities it offers. These include: an exhibition on basic concepts, economic and financial curiosities and advice on cybersecurity, presented on eleven panels with a didactic and entertaining approach; a timeline that reflects in detail the historical evolution of money over the centuries; an area of interactive financial games developed by the Edufinet Project, equipped with tablets to facilitate access to them, as well as a training classroom.

This activity is part of the program of training activities organized by Edufinet, with the collaboration of Funcas Educa, which is scheduled to take place throughout this week, within the framework of the Financial Education Day. It is also part of the 17th edition of its Financial Education Workshops for Young People.

The Financial Education Day is an initiative promoted by the Financial Education Plan, promoted by the Bank of Spain, the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, which also has a large number of collaborators.

Edufinet Center in Salamanca

The Edufinet Financial Education Center in Salamanca, with more than 200 square meters, located in the historic San Eloy building, was inaugurated in December 2023 by the Edufinet Project, with the collaboration of Fundación Caja Duero Foundation and Funcas Educa. It is a differential factor and added value that this new Edufinet financial education center is constituted as a space specifically dedicated to financial education.

The goal of these activities is to continue bringing young people closer to the basic aspects of the economy and finance, with special attention to the different financial products and services of which they are already users or will be throughout their lives, with a view to making better financial decisions. Also to the improvement of their financial and digital skills and competences, as well as in cybersecurity, so that they can manage with greater autonomy and security not only in the management of their personal finances, but also when performing certain operations through digital banking, as well as to prevent and protect themselves against possible fraud and cyber risks.
