The Edufinet Project, a financial education program promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, presented its seventh Financial Guide this Wednesday, 17 September, in Madrid. This is the latest edition of this publication, of a didactic nature and aimed at the general public, which updates and expands its contents, with the incorporation of new sections, addressing among other topics, sustainable finance and digital transformation applied to finance. All its contents are available on the Edufinet website (www.edufinet.com).

The presentation was attended by the general manager of CECA, Antonio Romero; the manager of Funcas, Antonio Martín; the member of the Edufinet Project, José Antonio Díaz; the head of Social Activities of Fundación Unicaja, Gerardo Lerones and the head of Financial Education of Unicaja, María Eugenia Martínez-Oña.

In its eagerness to continuously adapt to the financial needs of citizens, the Financial Guide of the Edufinet Project, which is sponsored by Funcas Educa, aims, with this new edition, among other objectives, to serve as an introduction and bring its users closer to the new scenarios and challenges posed by the irruption of digital finance. In this context, it provides explanations on concepts related to blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, big data, artificial intelligence, automated financial advice or the main cybercrimes.

This Financial Guide, published by the publishing house Aranzadi, provides in a practical, systematic and accessible way, an introductory and global vision of the key aspects of the financial system and of the different products and services available in the market, in addition to other related contents, of cross-cutting scope, presented with objective criteria. The goal is, in short, to make available to all citizens a document for support and consultation, which contributes to improve their personal autonomy in the process of making financial decisions.

Contents with a didactic approach

The Financial Guide covers, through its 22 chapters, different areas of interest for those citizens who wish to improve their financial literacy, using a question-answer format that facilitates the understanding of the concepts and the search for information. In these sections, financial education is approached from a broad perspective, incorporating, in addition, related subjects, together with a wide range of practical illustrations (graphs and diagrams) and exercises.

This publication covers a wide range of content, from the full life cycle of today's financial products to the key elements in the financial decision-making process. In this sense, it includes a systematic presentation of the basic concepts that allow for a global vision of the financial system and the different services provided in it, covering the most outstanding aspects.

Thus, first of all, the guide focuses its attention on the family budget, where, in addition to explaining different approaches for its management, the main economic-financial indicators to be taken into account are included. This is followed by a discussion of the decision-making process, depending on the needs and the different product and service options available on the market, with all their implications. Subsequently, the role and structure of the Spanish financial system is examined, as a preliminary step to the study of the different payment instruments, savings products, investment, forecasting, financing and other financial services.

Other chapters are focused on cross-cutting contents (legal aspects, taxation and financial calculations), whose assessment is essential when making financial decisions. Contents related to regulatory changes are added, and, as new sections in this edition, those referring to sustainable finance and digital transformation in the field of finance, covering issues such as blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, big data, artificial intelligence, automated financial advice or the main cybercrimes.

Likewise, the Guide incorporates a set of practical exercises, consisting of more than 120 multiple-choice questions, covering all the sections of the publication, with four answer options and only one correct answer. The solutions to these exercises are available at the end of the guide.

Two decades of experience in financial education

The Edufinet Project is one of the trailblazing financial education programs in Spain, with two decades of experience, and it currently collaborates with ten institutions and business organizations, as well as with 17 universities.

In fact, it is one of the most active agents in the fields of financial education and inclusion, in the exercise of its sustainability policy and its commitment to society. It currently has two physical offices, in Malaga and Salamanca, from which it organizes face-to-face and online sessions.

Since it was launched, more than 300,000 people have participated in person in the different seminars, workshops, courses and conferences it has held. Its web portals have received more than 11 million visits, with access from some 180 countries and close to 20 million page views. In addition, Edufinet has more than 118,000 followers and subscribers to its social media profiles and podcast platforms. In 2024 it registered more than 9.5 million views and reproductions on social networks and podcast platforms, and more than 8.1 million in the first half of 2025.

Its website (www.edufinet.com) offers practical and educational information on the financial world through different sections (Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics). Other lines of action include courses and conferences (in-person and online) and publications, in addition to the educational work carried out through its social media profiles (YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok) and the podcast platforms iVoox and Spotify.

Its work has been recognized throughout this time with various awards, including the Finance for All 2024 Award, granted by the Financial Education Plan, in its category of best financial education initiative and three awards in the CECA Awards for Social Work and Financial Education 2023-2024. Edufinet has also been recognized as a finalist in the Vuela 2024 Awards.

The Financial Guide is one of Edufinet's main actions, in its general objective of bringing financial education closer to the population and contributing to increase their financial skills and knowledge in order to make informed financial decisions. Since its first edition, launched in 2008, nearly 29,000 copies have been distributed. Together with the Financial Guide, the Edufinet Project has published 30 books to date on financial education.

Funcas and CECA agreed to launch in 2018 the 'Programa Funcas de Estímulo de la Educación Financiera' -Programa Funcas Educa- with the aim of contributing to fund financial education activities developed by CECA's member institutions, either directly or through its related foundations, consolidating existing projects and promoting new ones. The growing use of telematic financial services, the need to promote financial inclusion by facilitating access to these channels for the most vulnerable groups or the increase in investment in crypto-assets are some of the trends which in recent years have changed our habits and our relationship with finance and which require us to improve our financial knowledge.
