The mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, and Unicaja’s regional manager for the North, Luis Manuel Taboada, have signed today a collaboration agreement to boost culture in the city.

This has been highlighted by the mayor after the signing of an agreement, which will strengthen, with the participation of the financial institution, major events organized by the Department of Social Revitalization, as the series of concerts of the Porticada to be held during Santander’s Semana Grande.

As she has detailed, in addition to this cycle, Unicaja will collaborate with the Town Hall in the celebration of Carnival, Concerts in Santos Mártires, Halloween, Christmas and Three Kings Parade, among other events.

In this sense, Igual has highlighted the public-private collaboration to help strengthen such important events as the series of concerts of the Porticada, which will feature relevant national and local artists of various styles, and accessible to all audiences.

“Unicaja was one of the two sponsors that last year decided to join us in this initiative, which allowed us to offer free concerts of relevant national and local artists, constituting a success in terms of public attendance and quality of musical proposals,” she said.

For this reason, she thanked the financial institution for its involvement in such important events, which allow the city to become a cultural reference.

For his part, Luis Manuel Taboada, Unicaja's regional manager for the North, highlighted the importance of this collaboration “which exemplifies the closeness of our institution with a territory in which we have deep roots, such as Santander and Cantabria”.

“Being able to collaborate with these events, which mark the cultural pulse of the city, is very significant for us, as they continue to connect us with the citizens, beyond our attention that we already provide from our branches,” he said.

Unicaja collaborates with these cultural initiatives, organized by Santander Town Hall, within the framework of its sustainability policy, with the commitment to contribute to the development of the areas where it operates.
