In line with its commitment to financial inclusion and the development of rural areas, Unicaja has put into operation a new ATM in the town of Roales, Zamora, which will not only serve the inhabitants of the municipality, but also the residents of four other nearby towns (La Hiniesta, Valcabado, Cubillos and Montamarta), currently without banking coverage by any entity.
The new device has been installed in an annex to the medical office -located on the main road, on the corner of Las Fuentes street-, a space provided by the Town Hall of Roales. With this measure, the commitment of Unicaja in the province, one of its territories of origin, is boosted.
Unicaja currently operates in the province of Zamora with a total of 15 branches (4 in the capital and 10 distributed in different counties), in addition to 15 financial agencies that bring banking services to small towns and villages. The network is completed with 29 ATMs distributed throughout the territory.
This action is part of the agreement signed between CECA, Asociación Española de Banca and Unión Nacional de Cooperativas de Crédito (Unacc), aimed at reinforcing financial inclusion in rural environments, especially in those which have suffered a progressive loss of population and services in recent years.
At the national level, Unicaja is present in 548 municipalities and maintains an active strategy of collaboration with the Public Administrations, with which it has maintained contacts during 2024 to study new formulas that guarantee access to financial services in municipalities without physical service points.
Among the main initiatives developed by the bank to facilitate access to banking products and services is the expansion of the network of rural agencies, with 505 agencies managed by 384 agents at the end of 2024, as well as the extension of opening hours at the teller window.
