Aware of the difficulties and losses caused by the increasingly frequent inclement weather, such as droughts or DANA, which affect crops and farms, Unicaja Banco and ASAJA Toledo join forces to raise awareness among farmers and livestock breeders in the province of the importance of maintaining agricultural insurance to ensure production and minimize damage.
Thus, they have signed an agreement whereby the organization may offer agricultural insurance marketed by the financial institution, designed to protect and guarantee the production and facilities of their farms, for which they have extensive coverage.
The territorial manager of Commercial Banking of Unicaja Banco in Castilla-La Mancha, José María Cortés, and the president of ASAJA Toledo, Blanca Corroto, have signed the agreement at the headquarters of the organization.
For Cortés, this is "one more step in the provision of personalized financial services adapted to this group, which, thanks to ASAJA Toledo, can have more at hand and with the best conditions and guarantees to respond to the adversities that may endanger farms".
The provincial head of ASAJA has pointed out that insurance is the only tool available to farmers and livestock breeders to be sure to get a minimum income, so it is important to encourage the subscription of these products. "In an increasingly adverse climate scenario for agricultural activity, having insurance is, right now, essential for the professional farmer," she stressed.
Unicaja Banco thus provides solutions to alleviate the growing need of farmers and livestock breeders to protect themselves against possible weather risks (especially hail storms, floods and drought) thanks to its different types of insurance, specifically designed to address these risks.
Commitment to Toledo farms
The marketing of agricultural insurance is part of Unicaja Banco's deep-rooted commitment to support the countryside. This type of product is mainly designed to respond to aspects that endanger farms, such as adverse weather phenomena, like drought or hail.
The bank, within the framework of the agreement it has with Caser, makes the Combined Agricultural Insurance (Agroseguro) available to the sector, with focus, in the last quarter of the year, among other lines, on insurance for vines, olives, nuts and herbaceous crops.
To complement the insurance offer for the agricultural and livestock sector, Unicaja Banco offers the Agrocaser insurance line, which includes products such as Agricultural Holdings, Agricultural Civil Liability, Agricultural Machinery, Livestock Multi-risk and Rural Tourism.
In addition, the bank offers farmers loans for financing agricultural insurance premiums with a 0% interest rate.
It is also constantly working on the development of new tools for professionals in the sector, providing them with all the resources they need to face new challenges and business opportunities and offering them a wide range of specialized products and services, such as the Univerde card, which offers the possibility of flexible payments, or its traditional line of financing for intensive crops.
These actions demonstrate Unicaja Banco's deep-rooted presence in the province of Toledo and in Castilla-La Mancha in general, as well as the bank’s firm commitment to the agricultural and livestock sector, as one of the main drivers of development in the region.
