Unicaja Banco has updated its range of credit, debit and prepaid cards with the aim of making them more sustainable, as they are manufactured with 100% recycled materials and have a new design with nature-based elements.

Furthermore, the bank has launched a credit card promotion* whereby a cashback of 5% of purchases made with the card subscribed during the campaign period (up to a maximum of 10 euros) will be made to 2,500 customers who meet the conditions set. Customers can register for this promotion -in force until 25 June- through Unicaja Banco Digital Banking and also at branches.

Unicaja Banco features a new design for its credit, debit and prepaid cards, which is made of 100% recycled plastic materials. This design has been carried out by associating each card with elements of nature, such as mountains, forests and plants. Likewise, the front of the card will no longer bear the customer's name, but it will be on the back of the card, making the design more relevant and modern.

The material from which the cards are made, 100% recycled PVC plastic, is one of the best alternatives currently on the market for reducing the carbon footprint, and the fact that they are manufactured in Spain also reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 28%.

The new cards also feature the Mastercard certification mark, which guarantees that they are sustainable and made from recyclable plastics. This certification offered by Mastercard is a consequence of its membership in the Green Payment Partnertship, an initiative created by the European Commission in 2018 to reduce first-use plastic in card manufacturing.

The new designs will begin to be issued for newly subscribed Mastercard credit, debit and prepaid cards, and will be gradually adapted in all renewals, either by expiration or duplicate, until the entire card fleet is covered.

Unicaja Banco, within the framework of its Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies, is committed to the development and promotion of environmentally friendly initiatives, as well as to contribute to sustainable development by minimizing the direct and indirect environmental impact of its activities.

Accordingly, the company promotes the reuse and recycling of materials in order to encourage the transition to a circular, carbon-free economy, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the United Nations, of which the company is a member of the Global Compact.

Credit cards

Unicaja Banco offers a wide variety of cards, including credit cards, which are suitable for day-to-day use, since they allow multiple transactions, such as debit cash withdrawals at ATMs and different forms of credit payment for purchases.

Furthermore, those cards are fee-free in the first year as they have no issue or maintenance fees. After the second year, they may be fee-free if an average of five transactions per month is performed (60 transactions per year)**.

Other remarkable advantages are the possibility of making mobile payments if customers have a cell phone with NFC technology, through the Unicaja Banco, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay apps; as well as free travel assistance and accident insurance***.
