Unicaja has launched a new line of financing aimed at farmers and livestock breeders in Asaja Málaga, which will allow them to receive an advance on their Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies. This initiative aims to improve liquidity in Málaga’s primary sector, facilitating the development of its activities and providing financial stability.

This is set out in an agreement signed by Unicaja’s regional manager in Málaga, Francisco José Reguera, and the president of Asaja Málaga, Baldomero Bellido.

Farmers and livestock breeders who are members of Asaja Málaga and who submit their single CAP application through Unicaja will be able to access, on favourable terms, an advance on their subsidies, allowing them to cover the costs of their daily activities with greater peace of mind. The deadline for submitting the single application remains open until 15 May, whilst the advance can be formalised until 31 October.

For this financial year, with the agricultural and livestock sector in mind, Unicaja has made €1,000 million in pre-approved financing available, including CAP advances and support for intensive farming, which will enable the liquidity needs of thousands of professionals to be met.

Unicaja’s regional manager in Málaga, Francisco José Reguera, emphasised that “our commitment to the Málaga farming sector is firm and long-standing. We work alongside organisations such as Asaja Málaga to offer flexible, accessible solutions tailored to the reality of each farm. The agricultural sector is strategic for the province and we want to continue being its financial partner”.

He also noted that this type of collaboration, under which Unicaja places these professionals at the heart of its strategy, “not only simplifies administrative procedures but also strengthens institutional and financial support for a sector facing challenges such as climate uncertainty and the need for generational renewal”.

Finally, Reguera highlighted Unicaja’s branch network in Málaga and its specialisation in the agricultural sector, as well as the bank’s digital channels, which enable personalised support both in processing applications and in financing linked to the CAP.

The president of Asaja Málaga, Baldomero Bellido, stated that “this agreement represents an important tool for farmers and livestock breeders in the province, as the advance payment of CAP aid makes it easier to meet costs with greater certainty, in a context marked by uncertainty and rising costs”.

He also emphasised that “this collaboration is essential to guarantee the viability of the agricultural sector, particularly in regions such as Málaga, where agriculture and livestock farming play a strategic role in the economy and in retaining the population in rural areas”.

Wide range of products and services

Unicaja’s participation in the CAP agricultural aid scheme, which in the province of Málaga is aimed particularly at olive groves, sheep, goat and cattle farming, and arable crops, forms part of its long-standing commitment to supporting the countryside. This translates into the provision of services, including financial, protection and advisory services, specifically designed to address the particular needs of the sector.

Asaja Málaga, established in 1993, is the largest association of farmers and livestock breeders in the province of Málaga, representing more than 5,500 members. As an independent body, its objectives are the management, defence and promotion of the professional, individual and collective interests of its members.
