Unicaja and COAG Jaén have signed a new collaboration agreement with the aim of supporting and facilitating activity in the agricultural sector in the province. Specifically, through this partnership, farmers and livestock breeders are provided with advance payments of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies.

The agreement was signed by Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela, and the general secretary of COAG Jaén, Francisco Elvira, who highlighted the collaboration between the two organisations aimed at facilitating the day-to-day work of farmers and livestock breeders.

Unicaja offers agricultural professionals who submit their single CAP application access to advance payments of aid on favourable terms, enabling them to manage the costs of their daily operations with greater peace of mind.

The deadline for submitting the single application remains open until 30 April, whilst the advance can be arranged until 31 October.

This year, Unicaja has made €1,000 million in pre-approved funding available, including CAP advance payments and support for intensive farming, which will enable it to meet the liquidity needs of thousands of farmers.

Strategic support

Commenting on this agreement, Unicaja’s regional manager for Eastern Andalusia stated that, “for us, the agricultural sector is strategic and forms part of our identity as an institution closely tied to the region”. He added that “we want to offer farmers and livestock breeders in Jaén financial tools tailored to their needs and thus help them carry out their activities with greater stability and security”.

“Our aim is to support the sector in facing current challenges, from the management of subsidies and financing to the modernisation of farms, thereby strengthening the economic development of rural areas in Jaén,” said Cayuela.

For his part, the general secretary of COAG Jaén stated that “the agreement with Unicaja regarding the CAP forms part of our commitment to providing all possible services to our members, farmers and livestock breeders in the province of Jaén”.

Unicaja’s track record in the agricultural and food industry is underpinned by a comprehensive service model, which includes financial, insurance and advisory solutions. All of this is aimed at addressing the specific needs of the sector. This collaboration also translates into agreements with public administrations and participation in specialist trade fairs.

COAG Jaén (Union of Farmers and Livestock Breeders – Young Farmers of Jaén) was established as an independent professional agricultural organisation, whose main objective is to defend and promote the economic, social and professional interests of the rural community and, in particular, of farmers, livestock breeders and family-run agricultural holdings.
