Unicaja and Unión de Ganaderos y Agricultores Montañeses (UGAM COAG) have renewed their collaboration with the aim of facilitating the procedures for the 2026 CAP campaign to help them manage these subsidies, as well as improving the financial conditions of farmers and livestock breeders in Cantabria.

The agreement, signed by Unicaja's regional manager for the North area, Iñaki Pradera Salazar, and the President of UGAM COAG, Luis Pérez Portilla, will allow the more than 1,500 professionals associated with the organisation to access advances on CAP subsidies, as well as financial products and services tailored to the needs of the primary sector.

The knowledge of the sector by both entities, together with UGAM COAG's experience in managing these subsidies and the facilities offered by Unicaja for the advance payment of subsidies, will contribute to improving the liquidity and financial planning of livestock and agricultural farms in the region.

According to Iñaki Pradera Salazar, "this agreement reinforces Unicaja's commitment to the livestock and agricultural sector in Cantabria, facilitating administrative procedures and offering specialised financial solutions tailored to the reality of these professionals". In this regard, he stressed that the objective is "to support the daily activity of the sector and encourage investments that contribute to improving its competitiveness".

For his part, Luis Pérez Portilla, head of UGAM COAG, stressed that "this agreement provides important support for livestock farmers in Cantabria, as it facilitates access to financing and contributes to the stability of farms." He also pointed out that "having these tools allows us to face the campaign with greater security and better conditions."

Thanks to the agreement, livestock and crop farmers who are members of UGAM COAG will be able to access CAP advances at Unicaja, as well as benefiting from a comprehensive catalogue of financial products and services to help them continue developing their business. This will give them access to the most innovative resources and the financing and investment alternatives best suited to their business and projects.

1.000 million euros in pre-approved financing

Unicaja has made 1,000 million euros in pre-approved financing available to farmers and livestock breeders for this financial year. With this initiative, the bank provides these professionals with the liquidity they need to meet their regular expenses and ensure the daily operation of thousands of farms.

The financing lines, in the form of loans and credit accounts, are intended for the 2026 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) campaign and intensive crops.
