From Monday until Friday, Unicaja is celebrating 'AI Week', an initiative aimed at raising awareness of this technology, promoting its responsible use and demonstrating its capacity to transform daily activities and generate value.

The programme, aimed at employees and featuring activities with customers and universities, includes conferences, round tables, video podcasts and webinars, with the participation of experts and disseminators specialising in artificial intelligence such as Jon Hernández and Javier Echániz, partner responsible for AI and Data at Deloitte Spain.

AI Week is part of Unicaja's Global Generative Artificial Intelligence Adoption Programme and is aligned with the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, which identifies innovation, service excellence and process optimisation as key levers for enhancing the customer experience.

Throughout the week, practical issues will be addressed regarding the role of generative AI in everyday life, its impact on society and business, as well as guidelines for ethical, safe and people-oriented use.

The programme includes activities aimed at the academic environment, in collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA) and the University of Granada (UGR), with which Unicaja has a chair in responsible AI applied to finance. The sessions in this area will combine lectures, demonstrations and collaborative activities to show how this technology is driving new professional opportunities and transforming the business fabric

There will also be a specific conference for customers, especially SMEs and companies, focusing on how generative AI can contribute to improving competitiveness, productivity and decision-making.

Unicaja CEO Isidro Rubiales highlighted AI as "a strategic pillar of our organisation's transformation". "Our goal is clear: to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence to create sustainable value, strengthen trust and continue to build a more efficient, more accessible bank that is prepared for the future," he said.

"AI is already part of how we think about the bank of the present and the future, guiding us towards a new model of conversational banking," said Rubiales, while making it clear that "artificial intelligence does not replace professional judgement, but rather reinforces it; it helps, but what is really important is to promote our talent."

Commitment to innovation and sustainability

Unicaja's 2025-2027 Strategic Plan has a clear commitment to innovation, sustainability, the evolution of working methods and service excellence. Within this framework, the bank is committed to ethical, reliable and secure AI that takes into account its environmental and social impact and advances in a manner consistent with the bank's values.

All this with the aim of maximising the benefits of this technology and minimising its risks, reinforcing its role as a driver of innovation and service improvement.
