Unicaja and the Ávila Provincial Council continue to support local councils in the province through specific measures such as the advance payment of €17 million from the collection of municipal taxes for 2026. The aim of this new treasury operation is to provide local authorities with liquidity from the beginning of the year and throughout the financial year.

Specifically, Unicaja and the provincial body have signed an agreement whereby, through a credit facility, the financial institution will advance €17 million of the revenue from taxes managed by the Autonomous Tax Collection Agency (OAR) of the Provincial Council of Ávila.

The agreement was signed by the president of the Ávila Provincial Council, Carlos García, and, on behalf of Unicaja, by the regional manager of Business Banking for Central Spain and Expansion, Carlos Martín-Forero, and by the manager of Institutional Business in Castilla y León, Cristina Sánchez.

Among the financial conditions of the operation offered by Unicaja, following the open tender process awarded to the bank, it is established that the OAR will reimburse the bank for the amount advanced before 31 December this year.

Town Halls, at the heart of Unicaja's activity

On behalf of Unicaja, the regional manager of Business Banking for Central Spain and Expansion, Carlos Martín-Forero, reaffirmed the bank's ties with Castila y León and, in particular, with the province of Ávila and its institutions, especially local authorities, which are key drivers of progress and cohesion in the region.

In this regard, he expressed to the Ávila Provincial Council and the various local councils that comprise it the bank's willingness to meet their financing demands, as well as to offer them a wide range of financial solutions and services.

Martín-Forero pointed out that "Unicaja works with the aim of supporting local corporations", whose direct contribution to the welfare and growth of the province he highlighted. To this end, he added, "it provides them with financial tools that facilitate their daily management and contribute to consolidating their economic strength".

For his part, the president of the Ávila Provincial Council, Carlos García, indicated that "for the Provincial Council, one of whose primary objectives is to provide technical, legal and financial assistance to the municipalities in the province, this advance payment is a commitment to ensure that the councils can start the year with the resources to carry out the actions they consider most beneficial, within their legal powers, for the welfare and general interest of their residents".
