Felipe Reyes, ambassador of the Real Madrid Foundation, and Gemma Sotorres, Unicaja's Head of Image and Sponsorship, have visited the “Emprendeporte” program, a project aimed at unemployed people that is financed by Unicaja. From this season, the program has been extended to Emprendeporte Plus, aimed at retired people to maintain a more active and healthy aging, and for those who pass from unemployment to retirement can continue in the program and thus, avoid falling into a sedentary lifestyle.
The beneficiaries of the activity, which takes place at the Pradillo Municipal Sports Center in Madrid, had the opportunity to meet a basketball legend, tell him what the activity means to them and take a picture with him to immortalize a very special day.
The beneficiaries carry out two sessions of physical activity per week and receive a monthly session of Sports Psychology and Coaching. All of this is directed by qualified professionals trained in the Real Madrid Foundation's own methodology “For a Real Education: Values and Sport”.
The objectives are: to improve general physical condition and increase people's subjective wellbeing, enhancing their own identification with the positive values of sport; to learn about psychological tools and social skills to enhance emotional states and reinforce aspects such as self-confidence and self-control through physical activity; and to value sport as an alternative for occupying free time, as well as a pillar for the prevention of heart and mental illnesses.
This program is developed in the municipal sports centers of Pradillo and Plata y Castañar de Madrid.
Promoting social inclusion through sports
Unicaja supports various Real Madrid Foundation programs aimed at promoting social inclusion through sports, such as the socio-sports soccer schools in Oviedo and Quinta de Asturias, as well as the inclusive soccer school for boys and girls with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), located in the Luis Aragonés municipal facility in Madrid.
