Unicaja has shown its support one more year to the activities held in Salamanca to raise awareness among citizens about autism, a syndrome which affects 15,000 people in the province (a good part of them undiagnosed) and more than 450,000 in Spain as a whole. For this purpose, it has collaborated with Asociación Ariadna, which provides services to the families of autistic people.
Last Saturday, 5 April, Ariadna organized a big party in the Plaza de la Concordia in Salamanca, with the collaboration of Unicaja and other institutions and companies. In the midst of a great atmosphere, recreational and informative activities were developed with the aim of having a greater impact on society and transmitting the values of social inclusion of citizens with respect to people with Autism Syndrome Disorders.
The activities included the assembly of bouncing castles for children, balloon workshops, badges, tattoos, stickers and face-painting, musical performances, photocall and raffle, among others.
Asociación Ariadna has 92 members with 48 specialized professionals in charge of providing the care required by users with Autism Syndrome Disorder in the province. Recently, the first home for people with Autism has been inaugurated, and it is expected that in 2025 another second apartment can be added. The forecasts of its president, Carmen Calvo, are that in two or three years a new Day Center will be available to attend this group.
