Unicaja has carried out new corporate volunteering initiatives in partnership with Bancosol and Fundación ACOES, with the bank’s employees taking part in projects aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and communities in both Málaga and Honduras.

On one of the days, Unicaja volunteers worked alongside Bancosol, the Costa del Sol food bank, to prepare and pack food parcels for families facing financial hardship. The food will subsequently be distributed through the network of social organisations with which the organisation works.

The activity contributes to the work carried out by Bancosol to recover food fit for consumption and make it available to vulnerable groups. The organisation supports 128 social organisations in the province of Málaga, which serve more than 20,500 people, supporting them in their journey towards social inclusion.

In addition, volunteers from Unicaja joined forces with Fundación ACOES to sort, pack and load school supplies, furniture and clothing to be sent to vulnerable communities in Honduras. The initiative will particularly benefit children and young people and will enable educational resources and basic necessities to reach more than 10,000 children.

Fundación ACOES promotes projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the country’s most disadvantaged groups, with a particular focus on children, young people and people with disabilities. Among other initiatives, it promotes access to education as a means of fostering personal and social development. In 2025, the organisation contributed to the education of more than 10,900 children and young people.

Beyond material support, both initiatives strengthen staff involvement in social projects linked to the specific needs of the regions and communities with which the participating organisations collaborate. They also contribute to objectives related to the fight against poverty, food security, education and the reduction of inequalities.

Pilar Ruiz-Giménez, head of ESG Strategy at Unicaja, noted that “these initiatives reflect our employees’ commitment to the communities in which we operate. Through corporate volunteering, we seek to channel this involvement into projects that address real needs and generate a positive and tangible impact on people”

Unicaja's Corporate Volunteering Programme

With this programme, Unicaja facilitates its staff’s involvement in projects run in partnership with social organisations and specialist bodies, helping to strengthen the social fabric and address specific needs in the regions where it operates.
