Unicaja has launched a special 0% APR interest financing* scheme aimed at customers affected by the forest fires in the Community of Madrid and the province of Ávila, which are included in the national state of emergency declared by the Government. The bank’s aim is to provide immediate liquidity and facilitate the recovery of homes, farms, businesses and local economic activity.

The fires are centred in Villa del Prado, affecting Aldea del Fresno, and in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, which is also affecting Pelayos de la Presa, in the Community of Madrid, as well as in Burgohondo, in the province of Ávila.

The initiative is aimed at families, the self-employed, SMEs, farmers and livestock breeders in the affected areas and comprises two complementary products:

-        Firstly, a loan for the restoration and replacement of assets, intended to repair or replace personal and productive property (homes, farms and vehicles, amongst others), with funding of up to 80 per cent of the project cost and repayment terms of up to five years.

-        Secondly, a loan to advance compensation, which allows compensation from the Insurance Compensation Consortium or insurers to be brought forward, covering up to 90 per cent of the value of the claim and with a term of up to 12 months, extendable if payment has not yet been made.

Both loan schemes are offered free of interest and fees (application, set-up, cancellation and advance payments) and with flexible terms and repayment schedules. Customers located in the affected areas can submit their application at any Unicaja branch, where a specialist advisor will assess each case individually.

In addition, the bank has strengthened the coordination of its teams to assist affected customers, both through its branch network and via the insurance specialists at Unicaja Mediación. The aim is to provide information on the channels available for reporting claims and to support customers should any issues arise during the claims process.

This initiative forms part of Unicaja’s emergency response protocols, with a focus on accelerating recovery and contributing to the continuity of the local economy.
