Unicaja is joining, as an official sponsor, the activities organised to mark the 50th anniversary of the Federación de Empresarios del Metal (FEDEME), thereby reinforcing its commitment to Andalusian industry and to one of the leading business organisations representing and defending the interests of firms in this sector.

This partnership will support the various commemorative initiatives planned throughout 2026, including institutional and business meetings, initiatives to raise the sector’s profile and recognise its achievements, as well as the FEDEME 50th Anniversary Gala – an event that will highlight the federation’s history and the industry’s contribution to the economic and social development of Andalusia.

Through this sponsorship agreement, signed by Javier Aguilera González, Unicaja’s regional manager for Western Andalusia, and FEDEME’s managing director, Carlos Jacinto Marín, Unicaja is demonstrating its support for an organisation which, for five decades, has worked to boost the competitiveness of businesses, promote innovation, foster professional training and skills development, encourage business cooperation and contribute to the internationalisation of Andalusia’s productive sector.

FEDEME carries out extensive work representing and defending the business interests of the industrial and metal sectors; it currently comprises some twenty provincial and regional associations and represents the interests of more than 9,000 companies and 88,000 workers. Its activities address the challenges and needs of firms in strategic areas such as technological transformation, attracting and retaining talent, sustainability, the modernisation of production processes and improving competitiveness.

On behalf of Unicaja, the regional manager for Western Andalusia emphasised that, for the financial institution, “it is essential to support those organisations that contribute to economic growth, job creation and the strengthening of the business fabric”. He thus highlighted the work carried out by FEDEME over 50 years, noting that it plays “an essential role in driving Andalusian industry forward”.

In this regard, Javier Aguilera stated that “this collaboration reflects our commitment to the businesses, professionals and productive sectors that generate wealth and opportunities in Andalusia”.

For his part, the representative of the Federación de Empresarios del Metal stated that, “on behalf of the federation, we wish to express our gratitude to Unicaja for the trust placed in FEDEME to mark our 50th anniversary”. “This sponsorship represents particularly valuable support, which highlights the bank’s commitment to Andalusian industry and to the business community we represent,” he added.

“Without a doubt, having Unicaja’s support in such a significant year for our history helps to strengthen the initiatives we are promoting to highlight the sector’s track record and tackle future challenges with greater strength,” said Carlos Jacinto Marín.

Commitment to Andalusia’s productive sector

This initiative is part of Unicaja’s strategy to support businesses and productive sectors that contribute to the economic and social development of the regions in which it operates. The bank remains firmly committed to community banking and to supporting businesses, the self-employed and professionals, providing financial solutions tailored to their needs and helping to drive projects focused on investment, growth, innovation and job creation.

Andalusia is one of Unicaja’s priority regions, and the bank remains firmly committed to strengthening its business sector and promoting strategic sectors for the regional economy, such as industry, which plays a vital role in advancing competitiveness, innovation and the creation of opportunities.

Furthermore, this initiative is in line with the priorities set out in Unicaja’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, which identifies the strengthening of business activities and the fostering of relationships with the productive sector as one of the key pillars for generating economic and social value in the regions where the bank operates.

FEDEME, for its part, is a business organisation representing industrial and commercial enterprises across the various branches of the metal sector. The federation comprises 22 provincial and regional associations and represents the interests of more than 9,000 companies and 88,000 workers linked to this sector. Its work focuses on defending business interests and promoting initiatives aimed at innovation, training, internationalisation, business cooperation and the economic development of Andalusian industry.
