Unicaja and the Valladolid Town Hall’s Municipal Culture Foundation signed a sponsorship agreement on Tuesday under which the financial institution will sponsor the 71st edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci), scheduled for 23 to 31 October 2026.

“Unicaja has been part of Seminci’s identity for years, and renewing this commitment for the 71st edition is excellent news. Its support allows us to continue building a festival with an international outlook and deep roots in the community, which is exactly what Valladolid needs and deserves. Their loyalty to the Festival reflects a genuine commitment to culture as a lever for promoting our city, and that is something we at the Town Hall value and appreciate,” said the Mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero.

For his part, Unicaja’s head of Communication and Image, Fernando Ríos Cañadas, highlighted the bank’s commitment to Valladolid, a city with which it maintains close ties, and reaffirmed its commitment “to culture and, in particular, to an event of the stature and history of Seminci”, which, as he emphasised, “represents not only a reference for auteur, independent and socially engaged cinema at an international level, but also a driving force for cultural, social and economic revitalisation in Valladolid”. “For Unicaja, supporting initiatives of this kind is in line with our sustainability policy and our commitment to serving society, helping to bring culture to all audiences and to strengthen the cultural fabric,” he said.

Also in attendance at the signing of the agreement were the councillor for Tourism, Events and City Branding at Valladolid Town Hall, Blanca Jiménez Cuadrillero; Unicaja’s head of Image, Sponsorship and Stakeholder Relations, Gemma Sotorres Gomis; and Seminci’s co-director, Mariona Viader.

Unicaja’s branding will feature across all the festival’s communication channels: photocalls, screening venues, banners and screens at the Calderón Theatre and other strategic locations around the city.

The organisation will also display its brand on the carpet that will run through some of the city centre’s most iconic locations, such as Calle Santiago (between Plaza Zorrilla and Plaza Mayor), Fuente Dorada and the area around the Calderón Theatre. Guests attending the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as visitors and residents of Valladolid, will walk along it.
