The Gijón Knee Sports Meeting (GKSM 2026) positions the Asturian city as a leading centre for debate and updates in knee surgery, with this international scientific meeting organised in collaboration with Unicaja.
This meeting, taking place this Thursday and Friday at the Gijón Conference Centre, is aimed at orthopaedic surgeons interested in clinical decision-making based on real-world practice.
Under the slogan “Questions and answers. Problems and solutions”, the GKSM 2026 programme is structured around the main areas of knee pathology: patella, ligaments, meniscus, cartilage and biological therapies.
It also addresses the most common challenges in clinical practice through a dynamic question-and-answer format, featuring short presentations and ample opportunities for discussion. This approach allows for the analysis of complex situations, the comparison of criteria, and the sharing of experiences among specialists.
The event features a wide-ranging panel of nationally and internationally renowned speakers, who provide an up-to-date and practical perspective on knee surgery, based on clinical experience and critical analysis of the evidence.
In addition to the collaboration of Unicaja, the event is sponsored by Fidia, MBA Surgical Empowerment and Smith+Nephew, as well as receiving institutional support from the Gijón Chamber of Commerce and the Gijón Convention Bureau.
The bank’s support for this initiative forms part of its commitment to promoting educational and outreach activities that contribute to strengthening the economic and social development of Gijón, in particular, and Asturias, in general – regions with which Unicaja maintains a special connection.
