Unicaja has renewed its collaboration with Apag Extremadura Asaja to provide farmers and livestock breeders in the region with advances on Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies, a fundamental tool for ensuring the economic stability of thousands of farms in this region.
Under this agreement, farmers and livestock breeders in Badajoz who are members of Apag Extremadura Asaja and who process their single CAP application through Unicaja will be able to access advance payments of aid on advantageous terms, allowing them to meet the costs of their daily activities with greater peace of mind.
The deadline for submitting the single application will remain open until 30 April, while the advance payment can be taken out until 31 October.
The agreement has been signed by the regional manager of Unicaja in Extremadura, Marga Serna, and the president of Apag Extremadura Asaja, Juan Metidieri.
Unicaja has set up a significant pre-approved financing line for this financial year, worth 1,000 million euros and aimed at the agricultural and livestock sector, including CAP advances and support for intensive crops, which will enable it to meet the liquidity needs of thousands of professionals.
Strategic support
The regional manager of Unicaja in Extremadura, Marga Serna, stressed that "our commitment to the Extremadura farming sector is firm and sustained over time. We work together with organisations such as Apag Extremadura Asaja to offer agile, accessible solutions adapted to the reality of each farm. The agricultural sector is strategic for the region and we want to continue to be its financial ally".
Serna also pointed out that this collaboration, which places these professionals at the centre of Unicaja's strategy, "not only facilitates administrative procedures, but also reinforces institutional and financial support for a sector facing challenges such as climate uncertainty and the need for generational renewal".
Finally, she highlighted the value of Unicaja's network of branches in Extremadura and its specialisation in the agricultural sector, as well as the bank's digital channels, which allow for personalised support in both processing and financing linked to the CAP.
Unicaja's track record in the agricultural and food industry is based on a comprehensive service model that offers financial, insurance and advisory solutions specifically designed to respond to the particularities of the sector.
This collaboration also translates into agreements with public administrations and participation in specialised events, such as Agroexpo in Extremadura, one of the leading trade fairs for the agro-industrial sector.
Apag Extremadura Asaja, based in Mérida (Badajoz), is a professional agricultural organisation with more than two decades of experience, whose objective is to defend the rights of farming professionals in Extremadura. It is currently working on its expansion process to reach as many farmers and livestock breeders in the province of Badajoz as possible.
