The Edufinet Project, a financial education programme promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, and the Atlantic Mediterranean Technological University (UTAMED) have signed a framework collaboration agreement to promote financial education among students at this private university, thereby strengthening the programme’s academic network, which now comprises 18 participating universities alongside ten business organisations.
The aim of the agreement is to help improve students’ financial literacy, with a view to supporting their financial decision-making, through the organisation of training activities (both in person and online), as well as to promote collaboration between both parties on studies and research projects related to this field.
The agreement was signed by José M. Domínguez, head of the Edufinet Project; Sergio Corral, managing director of Fundación Unicaja; Fernando Ríos, head of Communication and Corporate Image at Unicaja; and Juan de Dios Jiménez, rector of UTAMED.
An educational partnership for the future
Within the framework of this partnership, Edufinet and UTAMED are establishing a framework for collaboration to organise conferences, colloquiums, seminars and other training activities aimed at teaching key concepts in personal and digital finance from a practical and educational perspective. These initiatives will enable students to acquire useful tools for the responsible management of their personal finances, financial planning and risk prevention, particularly in the field of cybersecurity.
Furthermore, the agreement lays the foundations for joint collaboration on studies and research projects linked to financial education and related areas, with the aim of generating knowledge and contributing to greater transparency and autonomy for citizens in their relationship with the financial system.
Edufinet, a well-established project with 20 years of experience
Over its 20-year history, the Edufinet Project has distinguished itself as one of the pioneering financial education and inclusion programmes in Spain, as a result of its commitment to society and the implementation of its sustainability policy.
The result of this ongoing work is its extensive collaboration network, in which a total of 18 universities currently participate, following the recent addition of UTAMED. This programme also has the backing of all Andalusian public universities, including the International University of Andalusia (UNIA), the University of Málaga (UMA), the two in Seville –the University of Seville (US) and Pablo de Olavide University (UPO)– the University of Jaén (UJA), the University of Córdoba (UCO), the University of Almería (UAL), the University of Huelva (UHU), the University of Granada (UGR) and the University of Cádiz (UCA). These are joined by others, spread across different parts of Spain, such as the National Distance Education University (UNED), the University of Salamanca (USAL), the University of León (ULe), the University of Burgos (UBU), the University of Valladolid (UVa) and the Pontifical University of Salamanca (UPSA), as well as one in Portugal, the University of the Algarve (UAlg).
Furthermore, the work of the Edufinet Project has been recognised throughout its history with various awards, notably, most recently, two CECA Awards for Social Work and Financial Education 2024–2025.
UTAMED
The Atlantic-Mediterranean Technological University is the first digitally native higher education institution in Andalusia. Following its establishment in 2023, it began operations in 2025, with the aim of offering innovative, flexible education connected to the real challenges of society and the professional world. Its educational model integrates technology, academic excellence and a clear international focus, placing the student at the centre of the learning process and committing to an open, accessible and future-oriented university.
It currently has two physical campuses in the city of Málaga, located in the Málaga TechPark complex and on Calle Bolsa, right in the heart of the city centre. Both centres embody a university model that combines the digital dimension with genuine integration into the urban, social and technological ecosystem, facilitating the connection between the university, innovation and society.
