The Extremadura agricultural sector has been the focus of the conferences organised by Unicaja as part of the Agroexpo international fair, which is being held this week in Don Benito (Badajoz). These sessions have brought together professionals from the agri-food sector to analyse the main challenges and opportunities for agricultural activity.
Specifically, Unicaja held three technical conferences at its stand at Agroexpo, one of the leading trade fairs for the agro-industrial sector, from Wednesday to Friday.
'Mechanisms and solutions for exporting in currency markets' was the theme of the conference held on Wednesday, which was given by Roberto Carrasco, Head of International Business at Unicaja, and Fernando Llera, from International Business and Currency Commercial Development.
Yesterday, Thursday, the presentations focused on 'The agricultural sector and the food industry, pillars of Extremadura economy', with the participation of Felisa Becerra, from Analistas Económicos de Andalucía (a research company belonging to Grupo Unicaja), and today, Friday, on 'The future of Extremadura tomatoes: production, prices and international competition', a conference moderated by Tomás Rodríguez, Agricultural and Livestock Business Manager at Unicaja's Extremadura Regional Office, which brought together representatives from the sector, including public administrations, cooperatives, producers and industry.
Specifically, this session was attended by the Director General of Agriculture and Livestock of the Regional Government of Extremadura, José Manuel Benítez; the President of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Extremadura, Domingo Fernández; the head of APAG Extremadura Asaja, Juan Metidieri; and the head of the Villanueva de la Serena Association of Farmers and Livestock Breeders (Agryga), Herminio Íñiguez.
The aim of these conferences was to provide useful information for decision-making and to listen directly to professionals in the field, thus facilitating the adaptation of possible solutions.
The bank had a 70-square-metre stand at the 38th edition of Agroexpo, held at the Feval exhibition centre, where professionals were able to see first-hand solutions designed specifically for their activities.
Broadcast of 'Agropopular'
In addition, tomorrow, Saturday, from 8.30 am to 10 am, the Unicaja stand will host the live broadcast of 'Agropopular', the COPE programme directed by César Lumbreras and specialising in agricultural information.
Unicaja, with the aim of consolidating its position as a leading financial partner in the areas where it operates, bases its strategy for the agricultural sector on tailor-made products, specialised advice from its managers and a wide range of financial and protection services.
For its part, Agroexpo has brought together more than 260 exhibiting companies and more than 500 brands, represented in an area of 30,000 square metres, with an expected attendance of 40,000 visitors.
