Unicaja, together with the Almería Province Trade Federation, a member of the Asempal Business Confederation, is promoting a study to analyse trade in Almería and will hold a series of conferences to disseminate information, provide training and raise awareness in the sector about the current situation and possibilities for improvement.

To this end, both institutions have signed an agreement, represented on behalf of Unicaja by the regional manager for Eastern Andalusia, Juan Cayuela, and on behalf of the Almería Province Trade Federation by its president, Javier Moya.

The main objective of the study, which will be carried out with the University of Almería, is to generate up-to-date, regionalised technical knowledge on the retail trade in order to facilitate coordinated public and private decision-making in line with local realities, as well as to activate processes of participation, training and practical guidance for local trade.

The conclusions will be presented at a seminar, which aims to improve technical knowledge about retail trade in the province of Almería, providing key data to enable the planning and justification of more effective trade policies.

Another objective is to strengthen the role of business associations as intermediaries, promote coordination between the various economic agents, encourage training and capacity building in the sector, and contribute to the sustainability and adaptation of traditional commerce in the face of new challenges.

Support for the business sector and trade

This agreement is part of Unicaja's support for the business fabric and commerce, in its interest in promoting and facilitating economic development in its area of activity and, specifically, in Almería and its province, one of the bank’s main areas of activity.

Its commitment to SMEs and the self-employed is part of its activity as a financial institution focused on retail and local banking. In fact, these professionals continue to be key players in its financing policy as groups that are crucial to the revitalisation of the economy.
