Unicaja is once again joining forces with the Government of the Autonomous City of Melilla, through the signing of a new agreement, under which the financial institution will grant a line of financing worth 8.9 million euros to support the development of investment projects in this community.

The signing of this agreement, which took place this Tuesday, 21 October, at the headquarters of the Presidency of Melilla, was attended, on behalf of Unicaja, by the head of the area of Almería Levante and Melilla, Manuel Nicás.

This new collaboration, which is in addition to other agreements signed by both entities, reinforces the relationship that Unicaja has maintained for years with Melilla and its commitment to support Melilla society as a whole.

This backing by the financial institution responds once again to its general interest in contributing to the strengthening of the business fabric, the development of new innovation and sustainability initiatives, as well as to the economic and social promotion in all its territories of action and, especially in the autonomous city, with which it has close ties.

The granting of this loan will be key to generating opportunities and launching new investment projects in the region that will contribute to its growth and the improvement of its infrastructures, as well as providing liquidity to continue developing actions aimed at boosting the local economy and optimizing public services.

Cooperation and commitment to Melilla

Among other initiatives developed jointly by both institutions, it is also worth mentioning the agreement signed last September for the granting of guarantees aimed at facilitating young people's access to their first home, the first of its kind signed by the Autonomous City of Melilla with a financial institution. Under this program, young people from Melilla up to 40 years of age can access the purchase of an apartment and mortgages under advantageous conditions, through the granting of public guarantees of between 80% and 95% of the amount of the property, managed through the Municipal Housing and Land Company (EMVISMESA). In this way, Unicaja, within the framework of its sustainability policy and its proximity strategy, once again reaffirms its commitment to young people, aware of the difficulty that access to the real estate market can currently pose, especially for this segment.
