Unicaja collaborates with the 'Ciudad de Albacete' Wheelchair Tennis Trophy

Unicaja has collaborated with the 17th edition of the 'Ciudad de Albacete' Wheelchair Tennis Trophy, in which Quico Tur was the winner. This tournament was held from September 18 to 21 at the facilities of the Albacete Tennis Club, organizer of the event, along with associations such as Cocemfe and Amiab and with the support of the Town Hall and the Provincial Council of Albacete and the Junta de Comunidades, among other companies and institutions.

 

About twenty athletes, some of them belonging to the top ten of the national ranking, competed in the different categories. Quico Tur was proclaimed winner after beating Francesc Prat in the final. In doubles, the prize also went to the athlete from Barcelona, together with Jorge Iglesias from Madrid, while in the consolation event, the first position went to tennis player Patxi Fadrique.

 

With its seventeen editions, the 'Ciudad de Albacete' Wheelchair Tennis Trophy is a fully consolidated project and a reference in the local, regional and national sports scene and has been held in parallel to the 3rd edition of the Tennis Legends Cup.

 

The awards ceremony was attended by the finalists of this Legends Cup tennis players, David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo, as well as by the provincial deputy of Sports Daniel Sancha; the councilman for Sports, Francisco Villaescusa, and the councilman Jacinto Navarro, by the Town Hall of Albacete; the president of Cocemfe Albacete, Marcelino Escobar; Juan Miguel Cano and Jose Carlos Jurado, by Amiab; Elena Marin, president of Albacete Tennis Club; and Julian Garcia, head of the tournament. On behalf of Unicaja, the head of the Albacete Area, Emilio Jesús Valenciano, attended the event.

 

Unicaja collaborates with this event in line with its commitment to promote the values of sport and its practice and, especially, to promote adapted sport among society. Unicaja's aim is to participate in and support important events in the areas where it operates, especially in areas such as Castilla-La Mancha and, specifically, Albacete.
