Sierra Nevada ski and mountain resort (Granada), of which Unicaja is an official sponsor, has organized for this summer a series of activities related to astro-tourism, hiking, sports events in nature and cultural events, for which the continuous use of the ski lifts will be available.
Thus, visitors will be able to enjoy on different days of night observations of the stars, watch the sunrise and sunset from the Veleta peak and visit the observatory of the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC). In addition, on 11 and 12 August there will be observations of the Perseid meteor shower with string music.
As for sports, there will be large-scale cycling events, such as the Sierra Nevada Límite-Gran Fondo (12 July), of 146 kilometers, and the ascent to the Veleta peak (13 July), with more than 38 kilometers of ascent, with a positive difference in altitude of 2,250 meters and an altitude of 3,100 meters.
The sporting events are completed with the XI Ruta Senderista Pico Veleta Techo de Dílar (25 July) and the Subida Internacional al Veleta (10 August), a race on foot with a distance of 50 kilometers between Granada and the surrounding of the peak, with 2,000 meters of positive difference in altitude.
For its part, music will be the protagonist in the XV Festival Sierra Nevada por Todo lo Alto (22 and 23 August), with performances by groups such as The Limboos, The Briefs, Guadalupe Plata, Los Tiki Phantoms, Mateo Ortega & The Sugar Daddies, The Sastres and Zutaten. The group Apache will also offer a concert (19 July). Both events are free.
For the little ones there is the Mirlo Blanco family activity park (19 July to 24 August), which has slides, zip line, bouncing castles and trampolines, among others.
