Unicaja Baloncesto continues to make history by revalidating its second Basketball Champions League (BCL) title this Sunday. The Cajistas won their fourth trophy of the season and the tenth of their career.

After winning in Athens against Turkish Galatasaray (67-83), Unicaja Baloncesto, sponsored by Unicaja since 1977, repeats the title won just a year ago in Belgrade, making history in Malaga and Andalusian sport. In this way, it also qualifies for the final of the Intercontinental Cup 2025, which will be played next September again in Singapore.

Ibon Navarro's team is once again crowned as continental kings after beating the Turkish team this Sunday in the final, in a match in which Unicaja dominated at all times.  In addition, Tyson Carter has been proclaimed 'MPV' of the tournament.

The victory was also helped by the warmth of the Marea Verde fans, both those who travelled to Athens and those who cheered from Malaga. Precisely, the club installed a giant screen in the Martín Urbano Pavilion (Los Guindos Sports Center).

In this Final Four of the ninth edition of the BCL, a tournament created and managed by FIBA and that, on this occasion, has been played at the Sunel Arena in Athens, the green team already won last Friday, in the semifinals, against the Greek AEK (65-71). It was also a game of maximum demand, both in terms of the play and the pressure of the fans of the Athenian team.

This new trophy for the Málaga team joins the other three titles won in this 2024-2025 season: the Copa del Rey (February 2025), the Spanish Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, the latter two won in September 2024.

In total, a list of 10 titles, which also includes, in addition to the Basketball Champions League in 2024, the Korac Cup in 2001, the Copa del Rey in 2005 and 2023, the ACB League in 2006 and the Eurocup in 2017.

Unicaja, main sponsor

The collaboration that the financial institution Unicaja, as the main sponsor, maintains with the Los Guindos club also responds to its social commitment to sustainable development through the promotion of sports, contributing to social progress and sharing with its customers the experience of being an active part of this sponsorship.

Unicaja Baloncesto takes up the legacy of the two clubs that gave origin to it: Caja de Ronda and Mayoral Maristas. Caja de Ronda was founded in 1977 under the name of Sociedad Deportiva Caja de Ronda. Since its creation, it took only four seasons to be promoted to the highest category of Spanish basketball, in the 1980-1981 season.

Mayoral Maristas, was founded in 1953 under the name of Ademar Basket Club. It moved up to the ACB League in 1988, remaining in it for four seasons until the merger with Caja de Ronda.
