Unicaja has reaffirmed its support to the ski and mountain resort of Sierra Nevada (Granada), managed by the public company Cetursa, after the recent renewal of the agreement under which the bank continues as official sponsor of the ski resort, as well as of the sports and cultural activities that take place during the summer season.

The renewal of this agreement with one of the most visited ski resorts in Spain has been signed by the CEO of Unicaja, Isidro Rubiales, and the CEO of Cetursa, Jesús Ibáñez.

Unicaja's support to Sierra Nevada responds to the bank’s interest in reinforcing its support to the productive fabric and the sectors that drive economic development and employment, especially in one of its traditional areas of action, Granada and its province.

It is also part of the bank’s firm commitment to the promotion of sport and its values, giving visibility to the different sports disciplines and promoting sport from the grassroots level.

Among the activities sponsored by Unicaja, it is worth mentioning the sponsorship of sporting events of special relevance, such as the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup and the Ultra Sierra Nevada long-distance race, as well as the Mirlo Blanco activity park, with attractions for the whole family, and the Perseids Night, to watch this meteor shower in August.

Commitment to sustanaibility and environment

Within the framework of its sustainability policy, under this agreement Unicaja strengthens its commitment to the respect and conservation of the environment, taking into account the nature of Sierra Nevada as a protected natural area and biosphere reserve, and contributes in this sense to the development of actions related to the protection and enjoyment of this natural environment by the citizens.

Unicaja's commitment to sustainability and the environment is reflected in the way it conducts its business, maintaining its permanent responsibility and attention to the needs of its customers, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders, as well as to the economic, environmental and social demands of the areas and territories in which it operates.

Sierra Nevada ski and mountain resort

The Sierra Nevada ski and mountain resort is one of the most visited and important in Spain, with an attendance of more than 1.1 million users and almost 800,000 skiers in the 2023-2024 season.

Located in a privileged enclave, where the protected status of Natural Park and National Park coexist, it is a reference in tourism management and socioeconomic development based on the postulates of sustainability, protection and conservation of its environment.

The activity of the resort is not limited to winter, as it remains open during the summer months through an alternative leisure offer, which generates employment and wealth throughout the year. Thus, its summer program offers astro-tourism initiatives, ecotourism, hiking, sports events in nature, cultural events and the continuous use of the ski lifts.
