This Sunday, 16 March, will be held the 31st edition of the Marathon and 9th Popular Half Marathon City of Badajoz “Gran Premio Unicaja”, for which a number close to 1,500 participants is expected.
This has been highlighted during the presentation of this event, held this Friday at the Twon Hall of Badajoz, with the presence of the mayor, Ignacio Grajera and the ambassador of the event, Fermín Cacho, along with members of the organization, collaborators and clubs of the city.
On behalf of Unicaja, as a sponsor of the races, the regional manager of Extremadura, Julio Morales, was present, who recalled the commitment of the bank for the promotion of sport in Extremadura, both in its practice and in the values it represents, and the support to events as deep-rooted and important as these in our territories.
Organized by the Municipal Sports Foundation of Badajoz Town Hall, both races will run through an urban route, along the main avenues and emblematic streets of the town.
The Marathon, with a total of 42.195 kilometers, will start its route from the José Miguel Sánchez Hueso Avenue, next to the sports city of La Granadilla, while the starting point of the Half Marathon will be the river promenade. The closing of the two competitions will take place at the athletics track of the C.D.M. La Granadilla.
Both races will take place this Sunday, 16 March, starting at 9.00 a.m. for the Marathon, and from 10.30 a.m. for the Half Marathon
