The Plaza Porticada consolidates itself as a musical reference in Semana Grande and this year will again host a series of concerts, totally free, of all styles and for all audiences. A cycle organized by the Town Hall of Santander, with the collaboration of Unicaja.
This has been revealed by the mayor, Gema Igual, during an event held Tuesday on the terrace of El Corte Ingles, which has unveiled the details of this event, which is so successful edition after edition and that energizes and brightens the city center.
The councilor, accompanied by Unicaja’s regional manager North, Luis Manuel Taboada, and the head of El Corte Ingles in Santander, Pedro Duplá, thanked, first, the support of both entities for the organization of these concerts. She also stressed the importance of public-private collaboration for such events to become a guaranteed success.
As she detailed, the cycle of the Porticada will be held from Friday 19 to Sunday 28 with two sessions each day: an evening (19.30 pm) for a family and general public, and a night session (22.30 pm) with artists and important groups at national and regional level.
There will be national pop, rock cover bands, consolidated artists of the national music scene, mariachis, boleros, soul, etc., and all this without forgetting the folklore of our land and regional music that will also have an important place again this year.
"And as always, we remain committed to young talent and local talent, so that, this year, we will once again have the presence of the top three winners of the Young Music Contest of Santander organized by our Youth Space," she said.
Finally, she encouraged all citizens to participate in these concerts and in the Semana Grande 2024 whose program will be announced in the coming days.
For his part, Luis Manuel Taboada, Unicaja’s regional manager North, has expressed the importance of the collaboration with this program, "which will dress with music an emblematic place for us as is the Plaza Porticada, where we have our headquarters in Cantabria". "Our commitment to projects like this is part of Unicaja's sustainability strategy and the commitment we maintain with our territories of action, in this case, Santander, where our entity is deeply rooted," he stressed.
