Unicaja reaffirms one more year its support to the musical cycle Marenostrum Fuengirola as main sponsor. The event, presented this Wednesday, is organized by the City Council of Fuengirola and this year reaches its ninth edition.
Unicaja's sponsorship responds to the entity's interest in promoting culture and music, as well as its contribution to supporting the productive fabric and the sectors that drive economic development and employment, both in Andalusia in general and in the province of Malaga in particular.
Marenostrum Fuengirola is known as one of the great outdoor concert series in Europe, and one of its main features is the diversity and variety of styles on offer.
Its 2024 line-up includes more than 30 musical proposals to be held from May to September, with concerts by Maná, Estopa, Eladio Carrión, Aventura and Manolo García, among many others. It will also host the only concert in Spain by the artist Macklemore and festivals such as Fulanita Fest with Amaral, Vibras with Maluma or jazz and flamenco festivals.
About Marenostrum Fuengirola
The musical cycle Marenostrum Fuengirola celebrates its ninth edition this 2024. Born as an initiative of the City Council of Fuengirola for the international projection of the city by attracting musical talent, the Fuengirola venue is established as a space where culture and music merge to offer the public an immersive experience on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, sheltered by the history of the Sohail Castle and the Roman City of Suel.
The 'Unicaja' stage, located on the hill of the Sohail Castle, has the capacity to host events for 18,000 people. The boutique stage 'Fundación Unicaja', inside the enclosure, offers more intimate performances, sheltering in its historic walls the 2,400 attendees who can enjoy their favorite singers with proximity and unique acoustics.
The festival has received six nominations in the Iberian Festival Awards in 2023, being also recognized as the Concert Series with the highest attendance in Spain in 2022 and 2023 according to the APM. In addition, in its commitment to sustainability within the plan in which it works annually for the improvement of the space, it was one of the final nominees for The Green Operations Award by the European Festival Awards in 2023.
The venue has become a national reference in concerts, receiving performances that take place in large venues in Madrid and Barcelona. It has positioned itself as one of the most attractive venues for audiences and artists. More than 500 great artists have stepped on the stages of Marenostrum: Jennifer Lopez, Alejandro Sanz, Manuel Carrasco, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, Bob Dylan, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Santana, Ozuna, Scorpions, Nicky Jam, Bizarrap or the celebration of Louis Tomlinson's The Away From Home Festival in 2022.
