The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Malaga Assocation of Sports Journalists (APDM, Asociación de Periodistas Deportivos de Málaga) to provide financial education to different groups in the world of sports in Andalusia.
More specifically, both institutions will promote, through the ‘Financial Education in Sports’ program, several training sessions with the aim of reinforcing and improving the financial literacy of those in charge of institutions, federations and clubs, as well as athletes, coaches and sports journalists, among other groups.
In this line, the Edufinet Project, in collaboration with APDM, has scheduled a series of activities, which start this September and will last at least until the end of the year, with a total of five informal seminars on financial education, given both in person and online, to different groups of the Andalusian sports network. These sessions will be moderated by members of the APDM and will also include the participation of well-known sports journalists.
This agreement, which is part of the agreement signed with Funcas Educa, responds to Edufinet’s usual support to the world of sports, as well as its interest in promoting the importance of financial literacy in the field of sports, aware of its increasing importance in society and in the training of young people especially.
Edufinet will develop these workshops through its financial education and sports initiative EdufiSport, which was born in 2020, with the aim of extending its work of dissemination and promotion of financial education to the field of sports. From its website, enabled at Edufinet, it seeks to respond, through a wide variety of content, to the needs and concerns of athletes and those interested in the financial world. Thus, users can find in this space different articles on sports and finance or diverse multimedia material.
Talks of financial management
The aim of the talks that will be given is to provide managers and athletes with basic notions and skills that will contribute to better financial management, both at an institutional and personal level and, in the latter case, also in their sporting career, as well as to facilitate future decision-making in the economic, financial and tax fields.
The first event will take place on Wednesday 20 September, at the Sala de Ámbito Cultural of El Corte Inglés, in Malaga, where, in addition to offering an overview of financial education to these groups, the need to incorporate this knowledge into their daily lives to help them act autonomously in the economic and financial sphere will be addressed.
These training sessions will be addressed to institutions such as the Colegio Oficial de Árbitros and the Malaga Football Federation -both in Malaga-, or the Andalusian Federation of Handball and other sports, with a talk in Antequera.
Proyecto Edufinet
The Edufinet Project has been promoting financial education actions for nearly 20 years. It currently collaborates with 17 universities and more than ten business organizations and institutions.
All this has made Unicaja one of the most active agents in the area of financial education and inclusion, in the exercise of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its commitment to society.
