Unicaja Banco and University of Leon (ULE) have renewed their financial collaboration agreement, that will benefit both the academic institution itself and its staff and enrolled students. The agreement has been signed by Juan Francisco García Marín, Vice-Chancellor of the ULE, and by Unicaja Banco’s Regional Manager of Commercial Banking in Northern Castilla y León, Marga Serna. The two institutions have a long-standing relationship, which now spans 46 years.

The agreement gives the University of Leon access to special Treasury current accounts, for management and deposits, as well as to the bank’s wide range of services through its network of branches, ATMs, Digital Banking, mobile apps or Bizum and card payments through smartphones.

Unicaja Banco also offers its wide range of products and services for teaching, research, administration and services staff, as well as for the more than 12,000 students enrolled at the University of Leon. The products and services include the Payroll Service, the different mortgage products marketed by the bank, as well as the Bizum platform, which allows users to send or receive money via cell phone, quickly, free of charge and in real time. Bizum also allows users to pay for purchases in stores without the need to carry a credit or debit card.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leon, Juan Francisco García Marín, emphasized that the renewal of the agreement “is very positive for the entire university community, as it will make it easier for everyone to carry out different transactions and have access to financial services in a convenient and simple way”.

Representing Unicaja Banco, Marga Serna sees this support as a commitment to the academic institution, its staff, students and society as a whole. “Promoting the highest quality training, as well as the dynamism of the University as a cultural agent, is an investment in the future for the development of the territory where both institutions are located. That is why we renew our long-standing commitment to the University and to all the members of the university community”, said Marga Serna during the signing of the agreement.

The cooperation between the two institutions, strengthened by this new agreement, dates back to 1977, with the transfer of the initial land of the Vegazana Campus by the former Caja León, now part of Unicaja Banco.
