Oviedo has a new social sports football school of the Real Madrid Foundation, thanks to the collaboration of Unicaja Banco. The project will take place at the Campo Municipal de San Claudio, on Mondays and Wednesdays, and its objective is the education and integration of children aged 5 to 17 and who wish to be educated together in values and with football as a vehicle for social intervention.

The project was presented this Wednesday at the Oviedo City Hall by the Mayor of the city, Alfredo Canteli; the Head of Institutional Relations of the Real Madrid Foundation, Felix Gonzalez; the Ambassador of the Foundation Ricardo Gallego, and the Head of Cabinet of Unicaja Banco, Ana Echenique. The event was also attended by the Territorial Manager of Business Banking of the Northern Area of Unicaja Banco, José Marcos Fernández, and the Councilor for Sports and Social Policies, Concepción Méndez.

As in the rest of the Foundation’s social sports schools in Spain, the project is aimed at socially disadvantaged children, reserving a minimum of 15% of the places for families at risk of exclusion, through a system of grants and semi-grants and with the support of Unicaja Banco.

In addition to the cession of the football field for the development of the school, the Social Services will certify the fulfillment of requirements to obtain full grants and semi-grants, although the activity, in any case, will have a reduced cost thanks to the support of Unicaja Banco. Large families with more than one child in the school will have a 50% reduction of the monthly fee.

Likewise, Unicaja Banco customers will receive a monthly discount of 30% if they arrange for the direct debit of the fee from their Unicaja Banco account.

Access to registration form will be available on https://pires.realmadrid.com/

Social sports projects

Throughout its 25-year history, the Real Madrid Foundation has developed several social and sports projects in Asturias, such as the summer campuses or the weekly social and sports activity programme at the Villabona Penitentiary.

In this 2022-2023 season, the Real Madrid Foundation will develop, including the new center in Oviedo, 36 social sports football schools and eight basketball schools in Spain, in addition to 24 schools of adapted and inclusive sports for people with different abilities, among the more than 140 projects it promotes in Spain, with more than 10,000 direct beneficiaries.

Unicaja Banco contributes to the creation of this new school by sharing with the Real Madrid Foundation, with which it has been collaborating for ten years, the values of integration, education and promotion of sports and healthy habits, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work.
