Unicaja Banco has been awarded by Patronato Deportivo Municipal of Gijón City Hall for its support to sports in Asturias, at the Gijón Sport Gala 2021, held on Thursday at Colegiata de San Juan Bautista. The Gala’s organizing committee has considered that the bank, ‘for its trajectory and merits, especially in sports in our city, deserves to be awarded as Entidad Patrocinadora -Sponsoring Institution-‘.

 

The award has been collected, in the name of Unicaja Banco, by the CEO’s Head of Cabinet, Ana Echenique, and by Elisa Hartasánchez, Head of the branch at Avenida Gaspar García Laviana in Gijón.

 

At the gala, athletes such as tennis player Pablo Carreño or field hockey player María López García and teams such as Club Patín Gijón Solimar were also awarded, in the category of 'Physical activity and equality'.

 

Unicaja Banco is the main sponsor of leading clubs in Asturias, such as the handball team Unicaja Banco Gijón, the Unicaja Banco Gijón Cyclist Team or the roller-skate club Club Patín Gijón Solimar-Telecable Hockey Club.

 

Support to Patronato Deportivo Municipal

 

The bank supports the Patronato Deportivo Municipal in different activities throughout the year, such as the granting of sports scholarships, the Circuit of Swim Crossings, the Cyclo-cross Trophy or the Villa de Gijón Amateur Cross, the San Silvestre race, or the Gijón Sport Gala, where Unicaja Banco also collaborates.

 

Unicaja Banco has thanked for this award, which is a new stimulus to reinforce its commitment to sports in Gijón and Asturias, promoting healthy habits, sporting values, the promotion of grassroot sports and social integration.
